William's invisible mouth dropped open as he watched Nina raise her arm and freeze the other two boys. What was going on? What had happened to the frail, insecure girl he had made friends with the night before? Had that all been an act to make him befriend her? He closed his eyes tightly for a moment, and pressed his palm to his forehead in concentration. Something was going on, but no matter how smart he was, he didn't have enough of the facts to understand what was happening. There was no logical answer for why Nina would let Andrew hurt her last night, but then, attack him tonight.
And what about preforming magic in front of a muggle? If she hadn't been the one attacking, she wouldn't have gotten expelled, but she surely would get kicked out now. If she had been in the defensive than it might have been excused. William shook his head. Why couldn't she just let him handle this? She had to know that he was there since she ran into him. William felt redness seap into his vision as his anger mounted. Closing his eyes again, he tried to remain calm. She had to have a reason for doing this, he told himself. She must know what is going on. She has too, because I don't.
William felt completely helpless as he looked from Nina's determined face to Andrew's surprised one. Was this some sort of revenge. Should he try and stop her now before things got out of hand, or should he just let her sort things out on he own? After all, it was her brother and it was her problems. William formed his hands into fists, but kept his mouth shut. He figured Nina was okay so far, so he would let her handle things.
