Now why did Kayla come up here? Oh that was right, to think. She leaned against the stone railing that surrounded the mini balcony on the owlery. Leaning on her elbows Kayla sighed a rather sad sigh. All she wanted was a family, but she had lost them years ago. After calling her a liar and throwing her out of their home, they turned their back on her. A tear rolled down her cheek as she remembered what happened that day. Kayla quickly wiped it away and looked to her owl who she had had since she started Hogwarts. "You'll never let me down will you boy?" Said Kayla to her owl. Obviously the owl was not going to answer her back, but it felt good talking to him. She could let out her frustration and anger and he would not say a word to anyone. It was strange that the one thing Kayla could completely trust, was an owl.

Kayla gave the owl a slight scratch on the head. He chirped loudly at her which made Kayla laugh. She guessed that was his way of saying he liked it so she continued. The owl leaned against her as she pet him, looking out at the view. She could see Hogwarts lake infront of her that seemed to go on for miles and if she looked off to the right she would be able to see the black lake that sat infront of the forbidden forest. Kayla had been in their a couple times. She smiled as she recalled the memories. It had been alot of fun. Especially when you hear all the horror stories. To be honest though, Kayla didn't believe the stories were real. Half of them sounded fake and all the ghosts that were supposed to be haunting the forest, well Kayla had not seen one in the forest so far. She had seen loads in the school and on the grounds but never the forest.

However she remained open minded. Who knows maybe she would see one sometime. Kayla hoped she would. The ghosts in the forest had to be terrifying. The forest was dark and scary so it would be strange to see a cheery friendly ghost willing to help people out. Hmm, she really should venture into the forest sometime. Not alone though, definitely not alone. She wasn't a idiot.

Kite was up in the Owlery as well, but for a different reason. His recent recovery of his memories have caused him soem disturbance, because now he knew the identity of his attacker, and also realized that they could be a dire threat to Mikayla. He then noticed someone walk into the Owlery.

It was a girl, cute, around his age, and she also looked deeply troubled as well. He decided to greet her, considering if she noticed him later, he would most likely end up being pegged as a stalker. He slid down the rafters and landed gracefully nearby. "Hey." he said quietly. "Sorry, didn't think you'd want eyes watching you unless you knew who they belonged to... I'm Kite. Kite Skeron. And you are?" he asked politely. He always hung around The owls up here, due to not having one himself. His owl ws presumed dead when he sent a letter to Syrus and it didn't return. This girl looked familiar, which he was glad to think that. With his memory loss, he wouldn't have known her from Eve, and would probably have panicked thinking she was looking for him (amnesia leads to being neurotic, kids). He looked out at the moonlit sky and waited for her response.

A frown formed on Kayla's face as she heard a sliding sound and a soft thud behind her. She turned around and saw a boy who looked about the same age as her, standing in front of her. She smiled slightly and walked into the owlery as he introduced him self. He seemed like a proper gentleman, atleast from the way he introduced himself he did. "It's no problem. I'm Kayla Sommers."

[/b] Said Kayla with a warm smile. Kayla looked over to the balcony where her owl had previously been perched, but he had flown off. Maybe Kite had scared him when he appeared out of nowhere. Kayla smirked and looked back to Kite. It was then that she realised she had met him before. A few months ago actually. They had hung out at the lake and had a laugh. Nothing happened apart from Kayla finding a new friend. Then he disappeared and Kayla assumed he had left the school.

"Wait a minute. We have met before." Said Kayla frowning as the memory came back. They had both met at the lake, got talking, went for a swim and ended up having a water fight. Then they both walked back to the school, talking about general stuff and joking around. It was a rather fun day actually. "Yeah it was a few months back. We met at the lake." Said Kayla with a friendly smile, hoping to jog his memory. She wouldn't blame him if he had forgotten, it was about five months ago now since she last saw him, so if he had forgotten it was understandable, but slightly embarrassing on Kayla's part.[/blockquote]

Kite crossed his arms and thought for a second. His memories having been just regained, it took him a second. "Holy- that's right!" He smiled. "Sorry, I've... well.." to save from all the the typing, Kite explained what had happened those few months ago. The attack, the person wiping his memory, and meeting Mikayla. His smile broadened when he mentioned Mikayla, but he was sure they hadn't met.

(Of course, he wasn't savvy on the situation they recently had, either.)

He finished his story and leaned against the wall. "We were going to meet there again the next day... that was the day I got attacked by the Griff." he looked down. "Sorry about that.." he looked back up at her. "For the longest time I had forgotten everything about myself. I knew my name only because it's what was on my chart in the Hospital Wing." he shook his head. "It sucked."
His owl flew in, and a large one at that. It held a roll of parchment.
"One sec.." he took the Parchment and read it. He stared at it a few seconds, then tapped it with his wand. It burst into flames, then after another moment, it was nothing but cinders. For split second, the look on his face had darkened considerably, showing there was more on his mind than there was initially thought. But at the next moment, his expression was back to it's pleasant grin, he crossed his arms and said. "Just a bit of bad news, that's all."

Kayla smiled as Kite remembered when they first met. Glad he hadn't forgotten, otherwise she would have come across as a stalker or something. Kayla leaned against the wall as he told her what had happened. She felt terrible for him, but she was glad he was getting his memory back. Kayla smiled when she noticed him smile when he mentioned Mikayla. Kayla knew she would meet someone. There she was a weeks or so ago, saying she was never going to meet someone and here now she had Kite. Good for her. Mikayla and Kayla had sort of, kind of became friends that day they spoke without insulting each other, and Kayla realised that Mikayla was not a bad person, she was someone who like Kayla had had alot of loss and betrayal in her life, making it hard for her to trust people.

Shaking her head slightly Kayla smiled and gave a quick friendly hug. They had only met once, but he was a decent guy and easy to hang out with. "Don't worry about it. It's not your fault. Hey maybe we should go back there. Might help with your memory." Said Kayla stepping back so she wasn't too close to him. Kayla needed to hang out with a friend at the moment, to forget about the situation she was in at the moment.

It was then when Kite's owl flew in and handed him a parchment. Kayla frowned a little as she noticed the expression on Kite's face change. He then put on a grin which thought may have been fake as he informed her he had just recieved some bad news. "You ok Kite?" Asked Kayla with a concerned look on her face. She hated seeing her friends upset or hurt. She hoped the news wasn't anything to upsetting, not after everything he had been through.

He felt a cold chill. Should he tell her? He hadn't even mentioned this to Mikayla, but now he was certain this would spread and become a danger to everyone he knew.
"Well. There's a cult of Dark Wizards after me. I'm actually here, apparently, because nowhere else is safe for me."
He sighed. "In my third year, I was wandering around Londonderry, Ireland, minding my own business, when suddenly, a car about splatters me all over the road. Thankfully, I was able to brace myself and only had my leg broken. Come to find out, it was a young man running from this cult of Dark Wizards. He figured I was there to stop him, so he attacked me. I rebounded his spell, which hit the car with enough force to send it down a hill... I passed out after that.
"So apparently, now, according to a group of Aurors, I am marked for death by this cult. They have just recently received word that there is a Wizard here that indeed wants me dead. Hence the memory curse... although I think that was an attempt at mercy, more than anything." He clenched his teeth. "I just... hope they don't try to get near Mikayla... I have a couple of buddies that keep an eye out because I can't be next to her all the time... but I think that's where whoever this bastard is will go first...." he sighed. "I've only told her about me being under protective orders in this castle and Hogsmeade, but not why... I mean, how do you tell the woman you love that just her being with me is putting her life in danger?"
He had let this spill. It had only been two days ago when he regained his memory and when he and Mikayla spent that amazing night together. He crossed his arms again, looking into the distance. "I have to tell her. I have to keep her safe." He looked at Kayla. "You had become my best friend when I didn't have any friends... I don't want you to get hurt either." he thought for a second. "Ok, if anyone asks, and I hate to ask this of you, you have no idea who I am. Ok?"

Kayla listened to Kite talk. Jeez, and she thought she had it bad. She found it rather, impressive that he would stay in school, knowing what is after him. When he had finished talking, Kayla nodded and said "I promise. Don't worry, I'm not going to say anything and if anyone asks, we have never met." Kayla smiled again and gave him a light pat on the shoulder. The atmosphere was getting slightly intense, in a rather depressing dark kind of way. So, without thinking Kayla smiled her usual cheeky smile when she had thought of something against the rules and looked back to Kite. "Hey, wanna go for a swim in the black lake and then maybe for a stroll through the forbidden forest." Blurted Kayla with a slight childish giggle, that probably made her sound like she was twelve.

The Ravenclaw had been to the black lake a few times and it had been alot of fun. Especially since it was off limits to students and there was a good reason for it, because of all the creatures that lived in it. The grindylows could tear a student to pieces if the student didn't know what they were doing, but Kayla was a seventh year, so she knew quite a few, but she didn't know if she would be able to protect herself and Kite against a horde of Grindylows. Still, that was half the fun wasn't it. Risking death. You only live once.

Kite thought for a moment. No plans with Mikayla, so other than the random studying he had to do, he was free for the night. He had been meaning to reconnect with several friends, so he didn't see the harm in a swim/stroll. "Sure." he scribbled a little note to Mikayla to hand to his owl. it read Going for a late swim with a friend. Meet you in front of common room later? "Chaos, can you take this to Mikayla?" he asked, sending Chaos off to deliver the letter.

"Ok, let's go." Kite said, motioning for her to lead the way. He didn't know Kayla well enough to know for sure if she was trying something reckless for fun, or rather, she could be trying to get him alone. He remembered hearing gossip about Kayla and Mikayla having words over a man before, so, he would keep his guard up in that aspect.

But, he followed anyways. She is a good friend, after all. Kite thought to himself, and if she tried anything, he'd kindly reject her and tell her how much he loves his Mikayla. Nothing will change that.
He would allow her to lead him the whole way, probably not saying much in the process, but nonetheless enjoying this time he could spend with a good friend.

For a moment Kayla thought that Kite might make up an excuse as to not go and hang out with her. It was no secret that Kayla liked the boys. She had been branded as the Ravenclaw whore, a title she was not proud of but Kayla had trust issues. Kayla felt she could never trust someone completely because it was only a matter of time before they betrayed her. Kayla smirked at the name of Kite's owl. Rather ironic considering everything he had been though. "You named your owl Chaos?" Said Kayla with an amused smirk on her face. She laughed a little quietly as she watched the owl fly off towards Hogwarts.

With a smile, Kayla made her way out of the owlery and down the stone steps, with Kite following behind her. He seemed a little on edge around her at the moment, but after everything he had been through it was no surprise. Kayla would be the same. He just needed time to get to know her again. Which hopefully wouldn't take to long, what with his memory returning.

It didn't take long to get to the lake. The lake was so still it looked like a sheet of glass lay across the lake, reflecting the night sky in it. The moon was in it's crescent phase at the moment which was good. They didn't need to be attacked by werewolves tonight. Kayla just wanted to have some fun with a friend. Luckily, the night was warm, so they didn't need to worry about freezing in the lake. With a soft smile Kayla sat on the grass and began removing her shoes while she spoke to Kite. "So, does being back at the lake jog your memory abit of the last time we hung out?" Asked Kayla looking back up at him.

Kite looked around. "Yeah! I was sitting there, messing around with the water and you showed up. Then we both fell in." he laughed at the memory. She had splashed him, and when he tried to get up, he had tripped over his own feet, accidentally knocking her in the lake with him. They spent the next probably thirty minutes to an hour talking about various things, playfully splashing each other.
"Yeah, I remember that.." he sat down and began removing his own shoes. As he did so, he remembered getting out of the lake and...
"Hold the phone!!" Kite suddenly blurted out. "W-w-w-w-w-w-w-wait a second." he thought hard. "Now... I remember." he looked up at Kayla. "Oh my... Kayla... I'm so sorry.."
Kite remembered his first kiss was in this spot. With Kayla.
How close they came to making another first for Kite before he stopped it, realizing it would make him like every other guy that had used her before. He didn't want that. He did not want Kayla to hurt like that. He valued her friendship, and they left on uncertain (but good) terms that night. The next day, three hours before Kite was supposed to meet her, he had gotten attacked by the Hippogriff.
"How did you not hear about me being in the Hospital Wing?" he asked Kayla, kind of astonished. "I mean... it feels like yesterday to me that we were here... about to..." he sighed. He was with Mikayla now, and he felt like he betrayed his promise to take care of and be there for Kayla, as a friend.
"I broke the promise I made to you. I promised you I'd be here the next day to talk, to help you through this.." he plopped back in the grass on his back, sighing. "I must be some sucky ass friend." Kite said quietly.

Kayla smiled as Kite seemed to remember the night they met. It was fun and she did really like Kite. He was sweet, caring and fun to be around. However she kind of froze when she remembered exactly everything that had happened, well almost happened. Kite also seemed to remember as well which in a way was good, but he was with Mikayla now and the last thing Mikayla needed to hear was that if he hadn't got attacked, Kayla and Kite could have ended up together. But Kayla pushed that thought from her head. She no longer liked Kite in that way. Yes she loved him, but only as a friend. Kayla came out of her insane mind babble and smiled softly up at Kite and shrugged as he apologised for letting her down. "Don't matter." She said.

The Ravenclaw definitely remembered the night after they met, because she remembered how used and betrayed she felt, yet again. Although she would have felt completely different if she knew the truth. But all she felt that night was humiliated and stupid for thinking that he would actually like her. "Maybe we should keep this between us. I mean, nothing really happened between us right? and me and Mikayla have just made peace with each other and I would hate for her to get upset over nothing." Suggested Kayla, raising her eyebrows slightly. What happened between her and Kite happened a year ago and obviously he no longer liked her in that way and Kayla was interested in someone else so what was the point of upsetting Mikayla over nothing. Mikayla was happy now and that was what mattered.

Kite sat down. He looked at her, jaw wide open. "You say it doesn't matter? Good lord, woman." he eyed her for a moment. "Also, don't hand me that. You should know better than to hide stuff from me." he crossed his arms. He knew there was something up. Something more than last time. This time it was something worse.

"Kayla, all in all, at this point in time, yes, I do love Mikayla, but I promised you, as a friend, that I'd be here for you and not just fuck you and run like every other one of these sexist assholes." he usually didn't curse. Not much. But he was upset. He could tell from the way she held herself that she had been used more than once since they spent that day together. "Give me one chance to fulfill this promise, Kayla. You don't have to feel like you're alone." he looked at her, hoping he could get across to her, maybe even open her up a bit like before. "Come on. Let's take a quick swim."

Kayla had forgotten that Kite was an empath, so hiding anything from him was hard, but she had spent so many years keeping things to herself that she found it hard to open up to anyone. Plus everyone she had trusted had betrayed her, so talking about personal stuff was not really a strong point for Kayla. "Oh yeah. I forgot your an empath." She said with a small smile. The truth is that really, it did matter to Kayla that he wasn't there for her. Ok it wasn't his fault, but at the time Kayla had just thought she had been used yet again.

At the moment Kayla was not going to tell him what was bothering her. They had not seen each other in a year and she had major trust issues so keeping it to herself seemed like a good idea at the moment. Kayla smiled slightly when Kite suggested a swim. "Ok, sounds like a good idea." Kayla said and then kicked off her shoes and then dived into the cool lake. She didn't worry about getting her clothes wet. They had wands and Kayla knew a spell that would dry them off.

Kite cannonballed in as well, swam up to her, and splashed her. "Hey. Bet you can't get me!" he yelled playfully. It was like the old times. Rather, almost. He would prefer it personally to remain this way, having Mikayla to go home to, and Kayla to talk and be there for. Friends were few and far between, and he was rather proud to know Kayla hadn't quite given up on him.

I'm so sorry... he wanted to say. Sorry for leading you on and sorry for not coming back...

He yelled at Mikayla. "Hey, I'm over here!" he would dive underwater, and then swim under her feet, tickling her.
He would then feel something sharp rake across his shoulder.

Grindylows?

He surfaced. "Kayla, get back to shore-"
he was cut shrot as he was pulled back under, three or four Grindylows diving out and back in to where he was pulled under.
The water was then still.

Kayla laughed and splashed Kite back when he splashed her. They were like a couple of school kids when they hung out, but that was what she needed. A friend that she could just relax and be herself around. Someone who she had forgotten a long time ago. Hopefully with Kite's help he would help her remember who she really was. "You only beat me because I let you win." She laughed and splashed him again. As they mucked about in the lake Kite kept on ducking underwater and tickling her feet. Each time she jumped and screamed then laughed. Kayla was extremely ticklish.

The smile soon faded when he told her to get back to shore. She then saw Kite duck underwater, and then saw a scratch on his back. "KITE!" She screamed. Kayla pulled her wand from her belt, said the bubblehead charm and then dived underwater. She could see a swarm of grindylows pulling Kite deeper and deeper into the lake. She shot the bubblehead charm at him, so he could breath underwater. Kayla kicked her legs quickly, catching up with Kite and the Grindylows. Kayla pointed her wand and concentrated on the wand shooting a charm at the Grindylows. "Imobilus!" She shouted. The spell fired out of her wand, there was a flash. The next thing Kayla saw was the Grindylows floating around Kite, not moving.

Kayla kicked her legs quickly, grabbed Kite by the waist and began swimming to the surface as fast as she could.
