Aria Jane Bailey
Dancer. Artist. Hufflepuff. Fifteen.[/COLOR]
The Looks:
Aria has fairly straight medium brown hair that is down to her elbows. Her eyes are almond shaped and dark brown, full of depth and emotion. She has a petite body, standing only at 5’2” and her skin is fair. She has a scar on her left shoulder blade shaped like an “X” from a knife.
The personality:
On the outside Aria appears reserved as she does not care to open up to strangers or acquaintances. She is very skittish when alone and is constantly looking over her shoulder as if she is being followed. She is quite brilliant academically due to the large quantity of reading she does. She loves to dance, and while her desire to perform in front of people has died since Charlie’s passing, she does so in the private. She is a loyal friend to those she truly cares about and a great listener. She loves to give advice and feels terrible when things do not work out the way she has said they would. She can be hot-tempered when she does poorly in school or upsets her friends, but it is quick to pass. She worries constantly about everything in her life and always seems to be panicking. She wishes she could be stronger and braver, but ever since her brother’s murder her boldness has died down. People who had known her during her first and second years saw the change in her personality. Aria use to be super outgoing and talkative with everyone. Ever since her brother’s passing when she was just twelve, she has remained reserved and only responsive to her friends.
Likes:
Aria loves dancing and art. She feels that they are an escape from reality. She enjoys lavender bushes and playing in the snow. Winter is her favorite season. She loves horses mainly because her brother use to take her to the fields where wild ones ran free. He told her that they reminded him of her dancing - elegant, graceful, pure and most of all free. Ever since his passing, she has really begun to pursue this interest through reading.
Dislikes:
Aria dislikes the obvious - hooded figures and knives. She practically refuses to even use a butter knife. She is extremely terrified of dementors because they are hooded figures. She is repulsed by the scent and taste of pumpkins. She finds relationships to be lies and would need convincing that one would ever be a good idea.
Strengths:
Aria is determined. She does not give up easily when she decides upon doing something. She is fiercely loyal. She will do anything for the people she loves. Aria is persistent. She does not take no for an answer. She is crafty and resourceful. Aria is able to manipulate situations to suit her goals. Finally, she is a good listener - unless someone angers her, she will listen and give advice to people all day. She started developing that skill after her brother passed away as it was a quality in him that she admired most.
Weaknesses:
Aria is skittish - she is easily frightened or surprised, much like a young horse. She worries about the people she is closest too, as well as about her grades and her future. She is mistrusting due to her past with her brother's killer. She is quick to jump to conclusions when meeting people and needs people to work at breaking the walls she puts up. She is quiet and shy around most people and only lets herself really talk to the few people she honestly trusts.
The History:
Aria Jane Bailey was born on December 1 in Edinburgh, Scotland to Mark and Sarina Bailey. She was the second and final child in the family, six years younger than her brother, Charlie. Aria started dance lessons when she was four. At age six, she moved from ballet to modern. At age twelve she could dance ballet, modern, and pointe. By age fifteen she was hired during her summers to dance professionally.
Her father and mother were constantly at work and Charlie ended up raising her later on in her childhood. She was at a dance performance a rainy night in February and Charlie had just come to get her. He had stopped and started to talk when a man approached Aria from behind. Charlie was helping Aria zip up her coat when he moved in front of his sister. The man murmured something Aria could not quite here, and eventually shoved a knife into Charlie’s abdomen. Aria remained frozen, staring at her bleeding brother. Charlie gasped, his last words were “Run, Ari.” She dropped her dance bag as the man approached her, attempting to follow the one thing Charlie said. She was not fast enough and after having his way with her he carved an “x” into her back on her left shoulder blade. He told her that she was used now and not even her boyfriend could save her. Of course the man meant her brother, but the two never looked too similar.
After that night, her mother stayed home with her often and she rarely slept. Her parents tried to help fix the sleep issue, but nothing came of it. Her dad brought her to the countryside after a month and left her with his parents, who had horses. She stayed there for a few months, learning to ride and care for the animals. It was suppose to be a type of therapy, and it seemed to help a great deal.
Now she goes to school and barely anyone, but the closest of her friends, know the whole story of the night her brother was killed. Naturally the murder was in the newspapers, but the details were kept minimal as Aria was a minor. Many people know of Aria, but most have never met her because of how reserved and timid she is now. She went from being rambunctious and full or life to be an introverted girl. Aria is still coping with her past and willing to keep moving forward.
