He rose from his seat, resting the heavy book on the small end table next to him. He stretched while walking over to his desk, back popping from sitting still for so long. He glanced at the stack of papers that still needed to be graded and placed his glasses on top of the finished stack. "After dinner." he mumbled to himself.

Rolling up the long black sleeves of his sweater he strolled from his rooms and into the hallways. Few students where out in this area, but the ones he did see he sent on their way. Near the great hall the noise of voices grew and grew and he strolled into the warm room, staying close to the far wall before sitting down at the teachers table.

Only part that I see here is: He mentions not being able to get a dog, and later states he has no pets but longs for a dog. Why is it exactly he can't have one or longs for one?

He has always wanted a dog, but can't have one due to the fact that he spends a large portion of time at Hogwarts, and its not like dogs are allowed there lol
