As she was swimming back, she heard Athan talking. Adonia smiled at him from behind her, [black]”It is a love/hate thing. Sorry.”[/black] She said with a laugh and winked at him.

Watching Athan swim ahead, he looked like he was a good swimmer. Adonia used to be good, but not now. Her too skinny body made her muscles somewhat weaker and made her somewhat slower and tire easier. Standing him, Adonia took Athan’s hand that was offered to her. It made her plant a big smile on her face. Sure, they had held hands… when they were like seven years old. But now, this time it was different. Were they going to start dating? What would happen if it ended… would their friendship end? Right now, Adonia didn’t want to think about that part. Right now, Adonia just wanted to think of the present and see what this would lead to.

Getting to the land, Adonia saw Athan perform the spell that dried the food. She smiled, he really was approving in his spells. It was great to see… now she would need to see how his potion making was. Adonia wouldn’t mind tutoring him.

Seeing the sandwich he offered her, Adonia took it and then sat down in the grass, taking a bite of her sandwich, looking into the lake. She was thinking. Should her and Athan talk about where they stand? Maybe it was best that she did. [black]”So…[/black] Adonia cleared her throat, looking up at Athan, [black]”What happens now?”[/black] She asked him. Adonia really hoped that Athan knew what she was talking about.

When Adonia posed the question about what was going to happen next, Athan stopped and thought. He hadn't really considered what would happen now. He was still with Kelsi, even if he had been wanting Adonia more than her for several weeks now. He had never broken up with someone. He didn't know what to do. He could get her to break up with him? He didn't want to think about that though. It was too awkward..

Looking at Adonia, he smiled a little. "I don't know," he said after a second. "Why don't we just take our time? It's not like we need to rush to have sex or anything. I believe we've already covered that base." He said with a small laugh. "Although..." he said with a smirk and a wink. Unable to keep the act up, though, he started laughing. "Just kidding, of course.. But, seriously, why don't we just take it one step at a time and see where we wind up?" he asked, smiling at her before taking a bite of his sandwich.

((I know it's not that good. Sorry. I've had a serious headache all day.))

Adonia nodded her head. She liked the answer what Athan had said. It would be nice to take their time, to see if those feelings were actually valid… but then he had to bring up the sex part. Where did that come from in Athan? Adonia was surprised he said it, and immediately, her face began to turn red. Adonia wasn’t rushing to sleep with Athan, that would be wrong, but it had crossed her mind slightly about sleeping with him again… but that was like a week or two after his birthday.

[black]”I like that idea. Good thinking. Plus, arent you still dating Kelsi?”[/black] She asked… but then her eyes widen… she had kissed another girl’s boyfriend. Quickly Adonia smacked her hand against her head and groaned. [black]”Oh Athan, Im so sorry, I forgot that you are still with Kelsi!”[/black] She took a breath of air and let it release, taking her hands off her face. Now looking down at the ground, [black]”Makes me feel like Im stealing you from her… Im sorry.”[/black] Adonia didn’t look into Athan’s face the whole time she was talking. Now she just felt really bad and embarrassed at the same time. She reached for her juice and took a drink of it, hoping with each swallow it would take away the embarrassment and the guilt… it didn’t.

Adonia seemed to read Athan's mind when it came to Kelsi, because not long after the thought ran through his head, she began apologizing about kissing him. Athan sighed slightly and leaned back, looking out to the lake. "Kelsi and I have been drifting apart, emotionally," he started. "For a while really. I just don't feel what I used to towards her. It's like when the honeymoon phase ended... so did everything I truely felt for her... I hate it, but that's how it's happened."

He had been looking out at the lake up until now, but looked at his friend for the first time, a small smile on his face to try and cheer her up. "Meanwhile, I've been thinking about you almost all the time, lately, and I love seeing you. I really do." He reached over with one hand and placed it gently ontop of hers. "I kissed you back, didn't I? Heck, I kissed you first. Don't feel bad, Adonia. You have no need to."

Nodding her head to what Athan had said, Adonia scooted closer to Athan, with her hand still attached to his. She picked it up, making him wrap his arm around him as she leaned her head against his shoulder. If he was totally uncomfortable with the position she was sitting in now, Adonia knew that Athan would say something. Her fingers were rubbing his absent-mindedly. Her thoughts was to how Athan said that he didn’t feel for Kelsi like had before. If something between herself and Athan, would it end up like Kelsi and him? It was hard to think of since they were going to take things slowly.

It did cheer her up when Athan said that he thought about her all the time. It made her smile, looking up at Athan. [black]”I love seeing you too. Your almost the only one that can actually make me smile.”[/black] She said with smile. Looking back to the ground, it was true, Athan did kiss her first… but… there was still some guilt that went into it. [black]”I know Athan. Its just… I don’t know. Its hard to explain. I guess it kind of makes me feel like a home wrecker…”[/black] With her saying the word, ‘home wrecker’, Adonia smiled at it. Realizing how stupid it sounded. [black]”Wow, that wasn’t dumb at all.”[/black] Laughing a little as she started to sway her feet back and forth.

A home wrecker?" Athan asked, laughing slightly as she put his arm around her. He pulled her into a bit of a one armed hug, squeezing her slightly. "Just don't worry about it. As far as you need to be concerned.. you aren't," he said, meaning that she shouldn't be worried at all. "I'll.. take care of things with her tomorrow. Then I'll be all yours and we can take it slow. No sex on the first date this time." He laughed slightly at his own comment and wrapped his other arm around her, kissing her softly on the cheek before pulling away.

Standing up, he stretched before looking down at Adonia, a held out out to her to help her up. He smiled down at her, trying to keep his eyes from drifting towards her bikini top, which was hard to do from this angle, but he managed to do it. "How about we finish that walk you so rudely interrupted?" he asked. He looked around the lake to see how close the other couples and groups that he had seen earlier were to them at this point. A handful of the students had gone in, but some of the others were actually walking their way, back towards the school. Him and Adonia would have to act like they hadn't held hands or kissed at all that day. He didn't want someone seeing them and telling Kelsi before he could tell her himself. He wanted to be with Adonia, but he didn't want Kelsi to think he had been dating her behind her back for an extended amount of time.

It was nice being in Athan’s arms. When was it the last time Adonia felt safe in someone else’s arms? It had been a really long time… since Ethan. But she couldn’t think of it. She didn’t want to open that wound again, plus Athan knew that she had loved him plus he was her first… as in sleeping with him. So there would always be something for Ethan. Adonia knew that she couldn’t dwell on that forever. She needed to move on, think about the present. Right now, in the present, all Adonia wanted was Athan and he wanted her. It was great to think about.

Laughing, Adonia turned to face Athan. [black]”Ok, no sex. We just need to make sure that we don’t drinking on our first date is all.”[/black] She said with a wink and a nudge to Athan. It would be great once Athan broke up with Kelsi… but then again, it would be sad since Adonia thinks that she is taking Athan away from Kelsi. But it isn’t her fault that he had feelings for her and that he had kissed her.

Adonia watched as Athan stood up, the sun hitting her eyes. She lifted her hand up to block the bright light. [black]”Rudely interrupted?”[/black] Adonia causally raising her eyebrow, [black]”It was hot and I thought it would have been nice for a swim.”[/black] She said with a coy smile as she stood up.

Reaching for her clothes, Adonia thought to put them on. Once she had finished putting her shoes on, Adonia picked up her wand from the ground. Pointing at her body, Adonia transfigured her swimsuit to her underwear and bra, then pointed it to her hair, drying it. Quickly, it was shiny and curly… she had missed her curly hair. Looking to Athan now, [black]”Lead the way.”[/black]

”It was hot and I thought it would have been nice for a swim.”

Athan laughed at this. "You couldn't have asked if I wanted to swim instead of tackling me?" he asked, looking at her. "Not that I really minded, but still." As he saw Adonia begin to put her clothes back on, he grabbed his own shirt and threw it on before Transfiguring his shoes into sandals and slipping them on. He didn't bother changing his swim suit back into real shorts, though. He simply jammed his hands into the small pockets in the trunks and walked along side his friend.

As they were walking, he bit his lip slightly, thinking about the kiss they had shared not even ten minutes prior. It had been better than he remembered, kissing her was. Of course, the last time they had kissed, they had both been considerably drunk, and Athan could hardly remember anything of that night, let alone how good Adonia was at kissing. Either way, though, the memory of their most recent kiss brought a smile to his face. Without really realizing what he was doing, he leaned over and bumped into her slightly. Looking over at her, he laughed before doing it again. Now he was laughing more. He poked her side, tickling her. Being around her made him more playful, and now that they were more or less dating, that was just going to be enhanced. He couldn't help it.

Adonia laughed. [black]”Well, it was more fun and more spontaneous to tackle you. Promise, it wont happen again.”[/black] Which was a fat lie indeed. There would be other plenty of times where she could push Athan into the water. She knew that he would know it as well. Walking with him, she just wanted to wrap her arms around him, walking with him, basically giving him a side hug… which she did. Just a quick side hug, then she started to walk next to him like normal.

Looking to Athan after walking a little further, he seemed lost in thought. Smiling slightly as she looked at the ground ahead, she was in thought herself, wondering what he was thinking about? Was it about her? About Kelsi? About what happened this afternoon? Heck, he could even be thinking about what he was going to have for dinner. Adonia didn’t know, but she wasn’t going to ask. Then, coming out of her thinking process, she felt Athan bump into her. Letting out a small chuckle, [black]”Watch it, kid.”[/black] Then he bumped her again. Looking at him, she started to laugh slightly… then poking her side… Adonia knew what was going to come next cause they played this game before. Adonia’s eyes widened as she felt him tickle her… Athan knows Adonia HATES being tickled! [black]”Athan!! No!!”[/black] She was saying in between the laughs and hunching over, trying to get him to stop. But she knew that he wasn’t going to try soon.

Trying to stretched her arms, going to tickle him back, Adonia realized that every time she moved her hands, he could tickle her side. Covering them quickly, Adonia then realized too how skinny she was… she could feel her own ribs! Wow… was she that bad? Was that why Kayla had tried to make her eat a lot of pizza in the common room the other day? Taking a step back, Adonia stopped laughing, feeling her ribs. [black]”Athan, on a serious note… how bad do I look?”[/black] Asking as she was touching her ribs in different spots… sure, Adonia heard people whispering how bad her face looks. With the slightly sunken in eyes, the thin face, but she thought that they were all exaggerating… was it true? Adonia hoped that Athan would tell her the truth instead of sparing her feelings.

Athan knew Adonia was ticklish. Of course he knew. He had been fully aware of this fact since they were kids. They had had tickle fights, going at eachother until one of them actually wet themselves. While they were both ticklish, Adonia had always been slightly more so. He continued poking and tickling her even as she pleaded for him to stop, laughing himself all the while.

When she stepped back, he initially went to tickle her more, but, seeing the look on her face, saw she was being serious. Stopping and looking at her, slightly confused, he listened as she asked her question. He looked her over, fully realizing for the first time how much skinnier she was than she had been before she had been kidnapped. He stepped closer to her, placing his hands on either side of her waist. He ran his hands lightly up and down her sides, feeling for her ribs and such. After a few seconds, he ran his hands down his own body. He could feel his own ribs too, so it's not like she was too terribly skinny.

He smiled at her slightly, placing his hands back on her waist and stepping even slightly closer to her. "You're beautiful," he said after a second. "You've been through alot, and no one should expect you to come through all that the same as you went in, and I don't expect that. So you've lost a few pounds. So what? Nothing to worry about. You're still beautiful, Adonia." He smiled again at her before pressing his lips against her forehead.

This Ravenclaw girl’s eyes started to well in tears. Why was this? Was it because he thought she was beautiful for looking hideous? Adonia didn’t know. But she was grateful for Athan being truthful. Something did happen to her… bad… she was feeling somewhat different on the inside. On the other hand, being with Athan, she felt like her normal self. All she wanted to do was wrap her arms around him. Walk with him side by side, but she knew that couldn’t happen since he was still with Kelsi. At least his kiss on her forehead tingled, the warmth still there, but then disappearing in a couple of seconds. [black]”Thank you, Athan. Come on, lets walk more. There is still more I need to tell you.”[/black]

Adonia wanted to grab his hand, walking with him, but she just put them in her pockets. Easier fighting the temptation that way. Where to start? Would she start with taking potions to help her nightmares and basically depression? Still going to a Healer to talk to them because they were worried about her mental health? Sighing, this confused girl didn’t know where to start. Taking a deep breath, she looked down at her feet. [black]”Lets walk more.”[/black]

Walking, she looked down at her feet. [black]”You know, being with you is different is when I am not with you… I act different. With you, I feel like my old self, but when you weren’t around, I cant sleep. Nightmares haunt my vision. That which leads to basically depression, worrying about it all the time. Worrying that it will all happen again.”[/black] Her eyes were starting to well again. This was kind of hard talking about it… but she didn’t want Athan to see. So the Head Girl did her best not to crack, but her voice was somewhat different, [black]”My Healer wants me to come see him, basically talk to him to see how my mental health is going… since I take potions to help my depression… I don’t want to take them, but my parents are making me… they are worried about me.”[/black] Adonia couldn’t help it anymore. She let a few tears let go from her red, swollen eyes. [black]”Athan, make me better.”[/black] She said in a small whisper and quickly hugged him. There, Adonia let loose of the tears, sobbing now. Adonia hated feeling like his, a big cry baby, but she couldn’t stand it anymore. Sometimes she wished she were dead… and this is maybe why her parents were worried. Her thinking about death rather than living… it was really sad to see.

Athan listened to Adonia tell him about all that she was going through. With every word, his heart sunk a little more into his stomach. He wanted to plug his ears and start yelling like a little kid, but he knew that doing so would solve nothing. Simply wishing that all she was saying wasn't true wasn't enough to make it so. He wished he had a time turner. He wanted to go back to the night that she had been kidnapped and stop it. He wanted to knock out her kidnapper and run away with her, keep her safe, and if he couldn't do that, he would have switched places. His fists were clenched in his pocket, his own eyes tearing up as he listened to her story. He felt so angry all of a sudden, but it was more than just anger. It was sorrow.

”Athan, make me better.”

He looked at her not even a second before she wrapped her arms around him. He hugged her back, pulling her close. He pressed his lips against the top of her head for a second before muttering, "Sit down, Adonia." After saying so, he slowly moved to the ground, always keeping one arm wrapped tightly around her. Once they were sitting, he pulled her close again, stroking her hair slightly. He didn't know what to say, and hoped that just holding her would be enough. He rocked back and forth slowly, continuing to stroke her hair. "It's okay, Adonia... It's okay..."

Adonia sat with him, crying as her salty tears left her eyes, running down her face, onto Athan’s shirt. Sure, she felt bad for wetting his shirt, but she really need to get everything off her chest and Athan was the perfect guy to do so. He was her best friend, but now he was more than just that. He was her crush… maybe little more than that too… she wanted to be with him, and she knew that he wanted to be with her too.

Wiping her eyes, she looked at Athan. [black]”Why me? Why would you want me instead of Kelsi? Just look at me?”[/black] She pulled back from him, sitting up, gesturing to her own body. [black]”Yes, we have known each other for our whole lives. Why now? Who do these emotions just pop up and say, ‘Hey! Now look at her.’”[/black] She shook her head. [black]”Sure. We slept together and all, which I really don’t regret, but why after all this time?”[/black] Adonia blinked her big, brown eyes filled with tears staring at Athan. This all seemed sudden… kind of quickly, so she thought she should answer her own question cause she will know it will be backfired to her as well. [black]”You know I have seen you as a best friend… but then on your birthday, we shared a moment… and let me tell you, I felt that best friend bond fade and a new bond started to emerge from my heart… love…”[/black] Putting her hands up quickly, Adonia quickly rushed forward, [black]”I’m not saying I love you or anything, but you know… I’m just trying to say that my emotions for you are more than friends…”[/black] Adonia realized she was just messing up more. [black]”Oh, Athan, I don’t know what I’m saying! I am so stupid!”[/black] She started to cry again, leaning into Athan… maybe she should have taken her depression potion today like she was suppose to.

”Oh, Athan, I don’t know what I’m saying! I am so stupid!”

Athan kissed the top of Adonia's head. "You're not stupid," he said after his lips left her hair. "You hear me? You, Miss Theodosia, are the furthest thing from stupid that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing." He pulled away a little and made her look at him. "You are brilliant. Completely. You are beautiful and caring and kind. You're the person that I can always feel comfortable around and you make it so easy to just relax and have fun."

He kissed her forehead before pulling her into a hug and holding her there, gently rubbing her back. He hated seeing her like this. He wished so badly that there was something he could do to make her better, but there wasn't. All he could do was be here and wait everything out. Pulling away again, he brushed her hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear before smiling gently at her. Without bothering to see if anyone was looking, he leaned in and kissed her lightly on the lips.

After having his lips pressed lightly against hers for several seconds, he pulled away and smiled at her. "And to answer your question, I've liked you for a while. Longer than I initially realized.. I guess I just had to be shocked into realization by sleeping with you." He laughed slightly before continuing. "As soon as the initial shock of that night wore off and I thought back on it, I realized that I liked you. Then, when you disappeared, I realized how much I liked you and how long I had felt this way. I had just been in denial the whole time..."

Gosh, Adonia needed to be with Athan more often. The boy was seriously making her feel better. Why didn’t her parents let her have any visitors at her home? Oh yeah… it was because they thought she was too sick to see visitors. Now, if Athan would have been there, things could have been so much better. They could have watched movies, eaten popcorn, act like their childish selves and not worry if they get embarrassed by it… that would have been great.

Hearing Athan’s answer, Adonia had a small smile on her face. He really did like her… sure, she was shocked when he said it the first time and kissed her, but now, it felt more real. Yes, Adonia was really jealous when it came to other girls who wanted to flirt with Athan and also when he had started to date Kelsi, Adonia thought her feelings towards the relationship was being protective of Athan… but now looking back on it, it was jealousy. But how could Adonia feel jealousy while being basically in love with Ethan? Maybe her feelings for Athan was trapped and when Ethan left and then Athan revealing the truth, the lock opened and her feelings emerged with her heart… weird, yes, but this is Adonia.

Adonia got on her tip toes and pecked Athan on the cheek, then gave him a small smile. She was calm now, wiping her face from the leftover tears, [black]”See, this is why you are awesome… you always know how to cheer me up and make me feel better.”[/black] Hugging him for a few seconds, Adonia let go and started to walk back down the lake.

Sticking her hands into her pockets, Adonia looked at Athan. [black]”So, what you want to do now? Go the Herbology greenhouse, look at some plants? Go to the Potions Lab and see if you can make a potion without blowing yourself up?”[/black] She said with a teasing smile as she went on, [black]”Or we can go get some brooms and take a flight somewhere. Your choice. Or if you have something better to do, let me know.”[/black] She said with a smile on her face. Dang, she could do anything right now. Adonia was feeling so much better.
