Gary "Gaz" Schroeder
What a crazy and unplanned happenstance...
It was the morning, five o'clock AM to be exact. Gary woke up in the Room of Requirement where he usually slept so he didn't have to deal with the other students. He looked around the room, nothing had changed since he was asleep. He was always worried somebody may come into the room and set some kind of trap for him so he would be caught. He sat up on the couch, rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes. He yawned and stretched as he stood up and grabbed his shirt. He dressed himself and started to clean up. The night before he had become angry with himself again so he began to destroy everything he could find. He saw now that it was a terrible idea and now he had to do it by hand, but it didn't bother him too much. He could at leas shirk off some time with this activity. Not like he has anything else to do. He turned the boombox and instantly it began playing YMCA. He danced as he cleaned the room and laughed as he knew what this song was from. He took a lamp half destroyed and set it on the table, knowing that it would reset once he left the room. He finished cleaning and slipped out of the Room of Requirement and decided to go downstairs to the Black Lake for a morning swim.
He knew it was going to be cold, it always cold in the morning. But especially in the morning when the night made sure that it may as well be frozen solid. He felt as it woke him up quite nicely. He quietly walked down the staircase, having to take a few detours because of the movement. Eventually he reached the bottom and opened the door to the courtyard. The sun wasn't shining. It actually looked like it would be a cloudy day. Gary continued into the courtyard where he found a dried bloodstain on the wall. He laughed as he realized that it was his blood from two days ago. It was still there, he was enjoying the pain a little too much. Man, I have to learn to control my anger a little bit better... I need to swim! he thought. Gary exited the courtyard, realizing that the Black Lake was a ways away. He continued down the hill towards the Black Lake. He passed the Whomping Willow, which wasn't an aggressive tree towards him. It actually relaxed around him. He didn't know entirely why, but it never tried to kill him, so that was at least a good sign that he could go near it. It shook a little bit and Gary flinched at the thought it was about to kill him. But it just relaxed and let him pass.
He found his way to the Black Lake. It lay still, dark yet clear to him. He felt a little sadness emit from the lake, most people were afraid of the lake. Most people would rather run away from it than take a swim. There was a giant squid in there, that was true. But he was a friendly squid. Naiads and Mermaids lived in there too sometimes. Depending on them, they would come out or stay under. Gary took his shirt off and his shoes and socks. He went to a well elevated rock where he could dive from. There was one that stood over a deep part of the lake. He climbed to the top, the wind picking up a little making him shiver as he realized he was about to jump into the freezing cold waters. He reached the top, it wasn't too high up, only about fifteen to twenty feet from the water. He turned his head left and right, checking if anybody was trying to spy on him. Nah, he thought I'm just being paranoid. Who would be watching me? Right before he jumped, he realized he left his wand in his pants pocket. He sighed in relief as he realized it and ran all the way to his clothes. He set it down on his shirt and ran back tot he top of the hill. He stood tall and erect. His bare feet gripping the rocky, yet covered in grass hill. The grass felt nice and cool under his feet.
His hair long hair blew in the wind, showing off his scar on his left eye and across his nose. His chest was bare with a scar on his left shoulder, where he had been stabbed by an extremist against muggle-borns. He didn't have much of abs, but any guy ad them. They barely showed, but they were there. His physique was skinny, not very buff. He had the average looking body. His pants were big and flowed in the wind. His bare feet resting on the grass. He sighed and readied himself for the jump. He dove for the water. His dive made him cut through the water without much splash. He went a few feet deep into the water, the bubbles flowing up to the surface. He arched forward and surfaced, taking a breath of fresh air. He submerged once more and started dolphin swimming. The lake was huge and he had to take gulps of air every twenty seconds or so. He stopped in the middle of the lake, the deepest part as far as he knew. He dove under and began swimming happily, the cold water dancing around him. He took another gulp of air. His body heat decreased quickly and knew if he stopped, he would start shivering. The cold didn't bother him, he knew as long as he moved, he would stay warm. He surfaced, looking around. The trees covered the sky from where he was floating. The sun wasn't breaking through the clouds either.
He smiled as he began to float around in the water, relaxing with the lake. He fell under the water and swam down, further and further. He swam towards the shore, the waters becoming shallow, making him work for the surface. He eventually broke the water and breathed once more. He got out and walked back to the top of his rock. He shivered violently. The wind was now picking up hard, making him even colder and wanting for the water. He took a few steps back, ran for the edge and jumped. He put his arms in a pointed position above his head, into the mid-air diving position. He saw as the water came at him, everything moved in slow motion, he took a breath and held as he hit the water. His dive took him farther down the water, the cold water feeling on him. His body becoming colder, but he was now absolutely awake. He didn't want to leave, he wanted to stay at the lake. He moved for the surface and breathed in the cold air. His lungs filling with the oxygen in the air. He grinned as he continued to swim, keeping his head out of the water.
