Midnight Prayers --Closed--

Serenity was laying on her bed in the dungeons thinking about Mariah the girl who had tamed the darkness of her heart, the girl whom her mother Meridian had killed using the dark magick of the ancient world. She felt a tear stream down her face and she knew that she was no where near as close as getting her revenge as she thought she was. Her dorm mates soft snores penetrated her consciousness and she rolled over and sighed. She thought to herself 'I might as well sneak out to the lake and confer with my lord. Pushing herself out of bed she grabbed her robes and threw them over her scantily clad nightgown that was a gift from her step-mother on her birthday. She pulled her hair up in a twisty bun and washed her face with the water from the bowl in the far corner of the room and crept out of the dorms so as not to wake anyone else.

She walked briskly on the moon lit grounds hoping that no one was looking out a window or something. She heard a noise behind her and turned and looked, there was nothing. She spun around and continued her quick walk towards the Black Lake, finally she found a spot blocked from the view of the castle and sat down looking into the water. She pulled out her wand and said, "Lumos Minamas!" and a faint light crept around her surrounding her in soft gentle light. She leaned back and closed her eyes and began her prayer.

'Dark-mane Poseidon, you are the Lord
Of the wine dark sea.
Wondrous things are hidden
Within your watery realm.
Lord of the Sirens.
Rise up from the earth-hugging waters
And bless your servant here.'

She then said,"Nox." and let the moonlight illuminate her and prayed, ”My lord, I am at a loss. I realize that my mother is your servant and has been for many more years than me. But I don’t know what to do. She killed an innocent because I swore to leave the priestess hood, I know that you know what’s in my heart. Please guide me to what I am supposed to do.” She put her hand in the lake and then took her hand and placed it over her heart.

Once she was done praying she looked out over the lake and felt the crisp air on her face and knew that even if the god didn’t guide her, she would still have a sense of peace because she knew that she would do the right thing.

Skylar stood up from the tree he had taken a cat nap under as his eyes caught something shining in the distance... the figure seemed to be illuminated by the moon above. She sat in front of the black lake staring out across it from what he could tell...”My lord, I am at a loss. I realize that my mother is your servant and has been for many more years than me. But I don’t know what to do. She killed an innocent because I swore to leave the priestess hood, I know that you know what’s in my heart. Please guide me to what I am supposed to do.” Her words carried out to him as he approached her quietly sticking to the darkness and letting it take over him...hiding him from the girl he never had met before...Who is she? He wondered as he watched her...her words took a moment for him to digest...he shook head in pure shock...she was speaking to the water like it was a god, but what god? He thought of his own god...his own little secret but could she be serious? Most students payed no attention to the religious world of magic...but was she proof there was hope out there for the youth? He couldn't help but smile at this as his attention went from her to the moon....it was so bright tonight...the stars were easily out shown but it's glory...which normally would really irritated the young astronomer....

He decided to get close as she grew quiet....Tonight he wore only a pair of black faded jeans..not even shoes were on his feet. He had originally planned on taking a nap then going flying for a while...His wings were begging to come out of his back...his dark hair was hanging across his face in a stringy way from laying across the grass and he couldn't help but wonder if he was covered in earth. He shook off slightly as he stood behind her, his voice was a smooth tone with a norweigan accent as he spoke, Isn't it kinda late for a student to be out of bed? He asked as he waited for her to turn.

Serenity sat there looking out into the water, feeling the magic that was in the air, sure Hogwarts was a magical place but there was magic everywhere and she could feel it. Not everyone had the 6th sense, that sense where you could feel the magic in the air, below your feet, or in everything that you touched. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts about how many people didn’t truly accept the magical world for what it was that she didn’t even hear the footsteps behind her. Then she heard a manly voice “Isn't it kinda late for a student to be out of bed? “ and stiffened, she could get in trouble for being out of her dorm so late at night. She slowly turned and saw a young man, who she recognized as a professor but she wasn’t sure which class. He’d only been teaching for a short while, she thought it was astronomy but she couldn’t be sure. She knew that he was a Head of House so if he did decide to punish her, then it could be pretty bad especially since he wasn't the head of her house.

”Oh!” She said with an alarmed tone, ”I couldn’t sleep…So I went out for a walk…to help me fall asleep better.” She couldn’t believe how lame she sounded, it sounded better in her head. She noticed that he was only wearing pants and felt relieved that she was wearing one of her spare robes, she pulled it closer to her chest and smiled a flirtatious smile, ”Isn’t it a little crisp to be wearing only pants?” She could only hope that he was nice enough to let her off with out much trouble. ”Should I head back to my dorms?” She wasn’t sure if he even knew what house she was in, her robes didn’t have any identifying marks on them after all.

Skylar gave her a observing look as she turned to face him. He was pretty positive she was a Slytherin girl...though this was his second year Professing he had gotten to know a lot of the students for at the very least their house. Skylar had been a Slytherin Student in his youth....he loved the house but the Headmistress had wanted him to be over Ravenclaw...her reasoning for her choice alluded him though. He stared into the girls eyes...looking for the truth behind her lies as she spoke. Oh! I couldn’t sleep…So I went out for a walk…to help me fall asleep better.” He was quiet as she continued, just watching and observing her, ”Isn’t it a little crisp to be wearing only pants?...Should I head back to my dorms?” He could hear the flirtatious tone in his voice and he slightly felt awkward for it...was she seriously going to flirt with a teacher...but then again...looking over her with interested eyes and after the ritual he had witnesses...would he let her? Looking over her...it couldn't hurt too much could it? Not if no one knows he allowed it. He decided with a sly grin and he sat down beside her....

He stared out to the lake, I suggest that you don't try the excuses on me...I have the tendacy to see through people. So what are you really doing out here? Not that I don't already know. I can tell like probably no one else could here...So which god are you taken with? He watched the gentle lake waves come forward... It's really not cold out here actually...not to me at least. It's warm compared to where I am from. Have you ever been to Norway? If you think this is cold, you would be in total shock there.

He thought for a moment about her last question...should he send her away...somehow he couldn't make himself... How about if you can entertain me interest you may stay out...but if you can't I ask you leave.

Serenity watched as he sat next to her and listened to him, telling her not to make excuses and which god she was taken with. So he knew, not many people in the wizarding world could pick up on magical religions. ”I was…asking the God Poseidon for guidance, for a situation that I am at a loss for.” She looked out at the lake with him and heard him ask about Norway. ”I’ve never been to Norway…how cold does it get there? I’m from the Mediterranean Ocean area…Have you heard of Actium?”

The air seemed to be warmer right next to him, she wondered why. ”You knew…about my god…how? Why are you so interested? Do you have a god too?” She looked at him with avid curiosity maybe there was hope for Wizard kind yet. She then heard his next statement, ” How about if you can entertain me interest you may stay out...but if you can't I ask you leave.” She finally returned his sly grin and said, ”I think I can entertain you, I’m actually not ready to go to sleep just yet. My name is Serenity but I go by Soras…it’s the name my god bestowed upon me.” She held out her hand to shake his.

He thought for a moment as he looked into her eyes, Well lets hope he sends his guidance to you...remember though child...it's not always in the words but is within the signs you may miss.

He smirked, not many people traveled to Norway...I’ve never been to Norway…how cold does it get there? I’m from the Mediterranean Ocean area…Have you heard of Actium? He thought for a moment...he didn't no much about Greece, but he had been near the area while traveling before, It's an ancient town isn't it? Why do you ask?

He listened to her next question with a quietness about him, You knew…about my god…how? Why are you so interested? Do you have a god too? He smiled as he decided how to answer her, I am the Astronomy Professor darling...the gods are in the skies they say. I am interested because it fascinates me to see the truth of the gods before me...to know their are other chose wizards out there with a connection to higher realms. Do I have a god? Yes...his name is Arawn...he came to me and made me a Priest in my youth...he was the one who decided my path to Astronomy for me...do you know of him?

He smirks as she answered whether she could entertain you, I think I can entertain you, I’m actually not ready to go to sleep just yet. My name is Serenity but I go by Soras…it’s the name my god bestowed upon me.”She offered her hand to him, and he gently took hers in his and shook lightly as he stared up at the sky...

”So again…how did you know?” He grinned, I know because the goddess shown through you in the moonlight...She brought me here to you...

Well lets hope he sends his guidance to you...remember though child...it's not always in the words but is within the signs you may miss… She knew this, and she nodded. Maybe he was a sign from Poseidon. After all the God was known to work in mysterious ways. She looked into his eyes as he spoke and she gave him a serene smile.

She gave him a nervous smile as he smirked and then nodded when he said it was an ancient town. Yes it is, It’s a ancient village in Greece, to muggle’s it seems abandoned so no one comes near but in all reality it’s the village of the Sirens…erm….the priestesses of Poseidon. Its holy ground for our lord. I only asked because I realized that you are the only person I have met at this school that realized what I am. Not even my closest friends know about me… She looked away up to the moon, and sighed. I’ve always wanted to travel the world…but my moth….uh…my high priestess wouldn’t let me travel anywhere…except to the Muggle world of Greece, to see my father. She felt the need to open up to him, he seemed to be the only one who understood what she was going through, that sense of loneliness.

She listened to him talk about the Gods being in the sky and how he was fascinated with the truth of the gods. She smiled, and looked up to the stars wondering what the truth of Poseidon really was. Maybe what she knew of her lord was only what her mother perceived. Could you teach me how to read the stars? She gave him a nervous glance as if to apologize for interrupting him, and turned her attention back to him. Do I have a god? Yes...his name is Arawn...he came to me and made me a Priest in my youth...he was the one who decided my path to Astronomy for me...do you know of him? So he was a priest for his god, she a priestess for hers…maybe Poseidon was sending her a message. My high priestess didn’t encourage the study of other gods…I do know that he is a welsh god…am I right? She felt a little shame, she didn’t want to be ignorant, she was always interested in other religions and beliefs.

She looked at his features in the moonlight, he was truly handsome and she could see that he was more than a wizard; he was as he said, a priest. Then he said in response to her question, I know because the goddess shown through you in the moonlight...She brought me here to you... She looked into his eyes and felt herself being drawn in deeper than before. Maybe you are the sign that he sent to me. Just as the goddess shown through me, the god shines in you. She extended her hand out to him and continued to look into his eyes.
