GENERAL INFORMATION

FULL NAME:

Ashlyn Rae Caeley. Ashlyn’s first name comes from the times of the Great War when her mother’s home was burned down by a group of Deatheaters. To remind herself of what she had lost, her mother named her child ASHlyn. Her middle name is actually her mother’s maiden name, and of course her last name is her father’s. Caeley actually means crown of laurel leaves, the crown symbolizing that her family is of pureblood decent.

NICKNAMES:

Ashlyn goes by Ash. This is because her father let her mother chose Ashlyn’s name, but he didn’t want to be reminded of such a sad memory every time he spoke his daughter’s name, so he just calls her Ash.

HAIR:

Very long to around her waist. A dark chocolatey color and it is extremely curly.

EYES:

Large and round hazel eyes that sometimes appear green and sometimes brown.

BODY TYPE:

Very tall, around 5’9”. She is thin, not too curvy but not straight as a board either. She isn’t tan, but she’s not white as a sheet either, you might call it a nice cream color or something close to it.

UNIQUE FEATURES:

Depending on her mood, Ash’s eyes will be green or brown. If she is happy, thoughtful, hopeful, or excited they will be green. Sadness, boredom, nervousness, and anger cause her eyes to be brown. The more passionate the mood the brighter or darker the green or brown.

ANIMAGUS:

Yes, she can turn into a fox. This, of course will be explained later, but it is because there were many times where she needed to hide.

PERSONALITY

PATRONUS:

The strongest and happiest memory of Ash’s is when she finally learned how to become an Animagus. This is because now she would be able to hide if someone was bullying her, like they so often did. Because of this, her patronus is a fox, which is, of course, the animal she transfigures into.

DEMENTOR:

Ash’s worst memory is when she won an award in her elementary school before attending Hogwarts for being the smartest person in her grade. Because Ash was not very popular, she was booed off stage and the kids in her grade yelled horrible things at her. Although Ash was bullied throughout her childhood, this moment is the worst for her because no one stood up for her, not even the teachers. This experience caused her to become a very insecure person.

MIRROR OF ERISED:

When Ash looks into the mirror, she sees herself standing there with the house cup, but instead of people booing, there are thousands of people behind her clapping. Even though Ash had friends and appears to not be bothered by things, on the inside she can still be very insecure and wants to fit in.

BOGGART:

The boggart takes the form of Malitha Durough, a large rather rough looking girl, who was the lead bully at Ashlyn’s elementary school and who, on several occasions, reduced Ash to tears. The first memory that comes to mind of Malitha was during physical education of Ash’s 3rd grade year. They were picking teams and Malitha was one of the two team captains for kickball. The other team captain, Jerry Cornwell, was a large boy with a history of being the best kicker in the grade. Although Jerry could’ve easily handled Malitha, and even though he knew Ash was extremely fast and hard to catch, he refused to pick Ash for his team because he knew of Malitha’s great hate for her. Finally everyone had been picked except for Ash, but Malitha refused to let her play and ordered her to go play in her sandbox to the thunderous applause of Ashlyn’s classmates. Mortified, Ash left the field in tears.

AMORTENTIA:

Freshly baked snickerdoodle cookies because her mom would cook them for her when she had a bad day. The pages of an old library book because Ash loved to read. Freshly cut wood, Old Spice, her brother’s deodorant, and barbeque sauce because bbq is her favorite food. Especially baby back ribs.

STRENGTHS:

• School work- Ash is a very devoted student for several reasons. Firstly, her family is extremely rich because of its pureblood decent, but Ash wants to make her own fortune. To make sure she has a good start after Hogwarts, she excels in her class work. Also, when she is upset, hurt, or angry she buries her feelings in her work. Finally, Ashlyn is extremely competitive and always strives to be the best at everything. Because of these reasons, Ash excels in her schoolwork.
• Quidditch- Because Ashlyn was bullied for so long, she needed ways to escape from the world around her and her own problems for a couple of hours. From a young age Ash loved to fly and it was a great getaway for her. When she reached Hogwarts, he skills at flying allowed her to land a spot on the Gryffindor team as chaser, rewarding her for the hours of flying she had put in from the start.
• Understanding People-Because Ash has so much experience with her own feelings, she is good at reading people and seeing how they are handling a certain situation. She can comfort people, but also knows when to leave them alone to be by themselves.
• Determination- Ash is always striving to be the best she can be, whether it be class work or in quidditch she always wants to win. On several occasions, this helps her to overcome her feelings and keep pushing through, no matter how bad she feels on the inside.
• Loyalty- Ash will always be there for her friends. She is supporting and kind, and would never do anything to hurt them. Besides loyalty to her friends, she is loyal to her school, family, and house, even though both of her parents were in Ravenclaw.
• Outgoing-Even though Ash can be sensitive, she tries to hide this behind a very outgoing mask. She loves making new friends and standing up for people in need. It is this attempt at being brave even when she wants to fall down that got her landed in Gryffindor.

WEAKNESSES:

• Worries- Ash can be very nervous about some things, especially things she cares about like schoolwork and quidditch. She also often worries about family and friends and sometimes assumes the worst possible outcome.
• Mistrusting- Because she was bullied for so long, Ash often mistrusts people and their intentions, although she tries to look past it. Often she has accused people of doing bad things because she didn’t know their actual intentions.
• Judging-Ash sometimes judges people before getting to know them such as putting them in the “popular” group or labeling them as a “bully” she sometimes has difficulty looking past what is on the outside and seeing a person for who they truly are.
• Dancing/playing an instrument- While Ash has a good singing voice, she cannot dance or play a musical instrument to save her life. This is much to her mother’s disappointment, because her mom plays the violin and the harp and danced for a traveling group for many years.
• Breaking rules- Ashlyn sometimes struggles with rule breaking after learning how to turn herself invisible, she has been caught many times taking food from the kitchens and staying past curfew in the library.

HOBBIES/QUIRKS/WHIMS/HABITS:

• When nervous she twists her sapphire ring that she always wears on her left ring finger. It was her grandmother’s and she always wears it.
• Besides quidditch, she loves to play soccer and ride horses. Her family owns many back and their estate.
• She doesn’t drink anything except for water, milk, tea, and coffee. All other drinks disgust her and make her teeth too sticky.
• She doesn’t like to study with people because she feels that she gets too easily distracted and it doesn’t benefit her to study with others.
• Ash hates to share food with other people, not because she is greedy but because he doesn’t like to eat food that has touched other people’s mouths.

LIKES:

Ash’s favorite season is Fall because she was born in the fall and she loves walking across thick, crunchy leaves. Her favorite animal is a fox because there are several that live on her family’s estate back in Birmingham and she has had several chances to talk with them when she transfigures herself. She loves listening to music and happy endings, and is a sucker for romance.

DISLIKES:

Ash strongly dislikes extreme heat of cold, but summer is her least favorite season. She doesn’t like pudding and hates it when that’s all the Great Hall offers for desert. Ash doesn’t like Thestrals because it horrifies her that people have seen death, and she strongly disapproves of the deatheater cults that occasionally pop up after the end of the Great War. Ash doesn’t like scary movies, and she isn’t a huge fan of alternative music.

TEMPERAMENT/ALLEGIANCE :

Ash gets set off when she sees people being bullied by others, especially when older kids pick on younger kids. She also gets angry when people pull pranks on her or when the cheat on things. Ash feels it is unfair for some kids to do the work and other kids to do no work at all. As its already been said, she is loyal to her friends, family, school, and house.

GENERAL PERSONALITY:

Ash appears a beautiful outgoing girl with everything going for her. However, even though she loves to be around people, there are times when all she wants is to be alone. Ashlyn needs time to be herself and think about things in a quiet space. Because of being bullied for several years, Ash can be extremely sensitive and often overreacts to little jokes and the like. When she wants to be alone, she often reads, rides her Nimbus 2000, transfigures herself into a fox, explores the castle invisible, does schoolwork, and helps out in the hospital wing and with the animals for care of magical creatures. When she does poorly in school she is often angry and disappointed and can sometimes take it out of people she knows. However, she has a huge guilt problem and apologizes later. Her role model is her father, who is one of the head aurors at the ministry. After completing school at Hogwarts, she wants to become an auror.

THE HISTORY

NATIONALITY:

Her family originated in Greece centuries ago, moving west during the Roman expansion and to Rome. The Caeley family remained there for many, many centuries until moving to Paris than Stafford during the Industrial Revolution.

HOME TOWN/CURRENT RESIDENCE:

Ash was born in Stafford, England, but in an attempt to leave the school bullies behind, she moved to Birmingham to an old Caeley family estate that had been in the family for about a century. Her family likes to travel during the summer.

FINANCIAL STATUS:

Because her family is pureblood, they have pooled up their money for a long time, making lots of revenue selling racing brooms to the wizarding world and prime racing horses to the muggle world.

FAMILY RELATIONS:

• Daniel Caeley-Father and auror. Role model to Ash and supportive.
• Elizabeth Caeley-Mother and stay at home mom. Pushes Ash and can sometimes be a bit negative, but she loves her family and tries to be a good mother. In her spare time she paints.
• Benson Caeley- Older brother by two years to Ash. He is a 7th year Ravenclaw and the smartest in his grade. He is good looking and popular, but not the most athletic and can sometimes be self centered. On the whole though, he is a good brother.
• Percival (Perc or Percy) Caeley- Younger brother to Ash by one year. He is a 4th year Ravenclaw and looks like his older brother. He plays seeker for the Ravenclaw team and is a very good natured boy.
• Adelle Beaufort-Best friend to Ash and fellow 5th year Gryffindor. Fairly plain looking but smart and kind. She and Ash love to watch movies together.
• Ryan Distain-A 5th year Slytherin boy that Ash has had a crush on for three years, however he doesn’t really value Ash’s company that much.

GENERAL HISTORY:

Ash was born in Stafford, England September 3, 1997. She grew up on her family’s estate riding horses and eating delicious food that Mrs. Caeley cooked. When she was one, her younger brother Percival was born, giving her someone to play with. When she was four, her father returned from work one day with a large cut on his arm and several bruises on his face. He healed quickly, but from then on Ash began to worry about her father, and about her family, friends, and anything she could possibly worry about. When she was five she began school, immediately showing signs of extreme intelligence that ran in her family of Ravenclaws. However, this did not help her to gain friends and she quickly became unpopular even though the teachers adored her. More and more she started turning to books, flying, and her family to keep her mind off of her miserable time at school. During class, she put on a brave face so as not to alert the teachers about what was going on. When Malitha Durough moved to Ash’s school in second grade, she quickly became the most popular girl, labeling Ash as an outcast. Several nights a week Ash would cry herself to sleep, comforted by her father. Her mother was not aware of what was going on.
After third grade Ash’s family moved to her deceased grandmother’s estate in Birmingham. Her brother began his first year at Hogwarts, and to his parents pride was made a Ravenclaw. Two years later Ash began school at Hogwarts herself, becoming the first Gryffindor in the family in a century. Life at Hogwarts was much better and Ash began to come out of her shell, however, on occasion, she would fall back to her old insecurities. Because of times like this, she learned how to be an animagus, getting her official license in her 3rd year. Also in her 3rd year, she joined the quidditch team, delighting her mother who had also been a chaser. Percival was sorted into Ravenclaw, but her family was able to, and still holds a tight bond today.

Ash held her wand tightly in her hands, forcing herself to breath. She was cramped and uncomfortable hiding in the little nook behind the suit of armor, but it helped her to focus. How could he say that to her, Ash wondered to herself, wiping pesky tears on her sleeve. He was the one who had asked her to help him with his potions homework, Ash hadn’t even offered. But of course she had said yes, why would she say no to a chance to be around Ryan Distain? He was handsome and popular, and not to mention he played chaser for the Slytherin quidditch team. Even though he was a Slytherin, Ash’s heart melted every time he opened his mouth to speak. She loved the sparkle in his dark, chocolate eyes and the swish of his dirty blonde hair. So what if he was in Slytherin?

But no matter how much Ash adored him, she still couldn’t find a place in her heart to forgive him for calling her an annoying know it all. It wasn’t her fault that intelligence ran in her family genes, and anyways, he was the one asking for her help. Wiping at even more tears, Ash took a deep breath and let out a long sigh. She regretted storming from the room, furious and not even bothering to answer to his apology. Maybe she should go apologize? No, there would be time for that later. Right now she was hungry. Peeking her head out from behind the suit of armor, she checked to make sure no one was in the hall. Blessing her good luck, she lightly tapped her head with her wand, feeling the cold sensation drip down her body. Glancing down and seeing nothing, Ash headed out for the Kitchens, her stomach rumbling. She would apologize later, Ash thought to herself, wiping away one last tear.
