Help Regarding School

Alright. So recently, there was a rather large test for my History class. As a Freshman, I'm still getting used to the High School level of things, and so grades is a big thing for me. And I'm still inexperienced when it comes to people asking to copy off of you. I mean, I totally know it's wrong, and in any other situation, I'd be quick to denying anyone access to my answers. Although, for the first test and now the second, two people have copied off of me each time, not really asking, more just expecting it. Because both of these people I'd rather not mess with(or anyone, in fact, when it comes to situations like this), I allowed it. And the second time I was caught.

The second time, on the day of the test, they quickly said they wouldn't mind paying to copy. I agreed, and I feel this is where I went wrong. I've always been a bit intimidated by the two, though this second time around I wasn't worried of the consequences. I figured, they wanna cheat, fine. Screw them, I just want to get this done. We only have 1 hour to complete the test and we have about 30 multiple choice questions, 3 short answers, and 1 big major essay. Essays are hard for me, I didn't want to waste time arguing about the matter.

It wasn't hard for the teacher to notice. They copied my essay in one of the test sections word for word. Rather stupid, I'd say. If I was to copy, I'd at least change it up. Students can have the same idea for a paragraph, but have completely different words(1-2 different) and it wouldn't count as cheating.

Now, because of this, Witzel, my teacher, has decided this needs to go to the Principal and Vice Principal, and will drop what could have been an A into a D. Now. I know there are big points where this is my fault, but I just wanted to know what you guys thought about this.

A few friends told me Witzel's punishment is rather harsh, but I'd like to know if they were being truthful or if they were being nice and trying to make me feel better.

Well, first of all, I dont know why you let them cheat in the first place. They arent learning anything when they do it. Not being mean or anything, just stating is all. I think they were trying to be nice to you so that they can keep cheating off of you. I personally didnt allow that when that same thing happened to me, I didnt get caught but this girl hated me after that. And we were sitting right in front of the teacher.

Anyways, I think the teacher was just a little harsh, but it also teaches you a lesson that cheating is never good. It doesnt benefit anyone really. Next time, if you dont want them to cheat off of you, request to move seats or sit somewhere where you know people can cheat. *big hugs*

Thank you. I was told the same by my Choir Director. I've most definitely learned my lesson, of course, and luckily, we were able to move seats.

And don't worry Ari, you were not being harsh at all. The hurtful truth is better than satisfying lies that won't last me forever.

Well let me say I know how you feel. The lovely thing about high school is the sudden plunge into tests and work that really count towards something. Would be nice if they warned us before eh? But yes, I'm not 100% innocent of the "sharing information with others" as much as I pretend to be. Sometimes, it just happens.

But the same thing happened to me, but a worse result. That wonderful F (Its a E for Aust) sprawled out across my work. -nods- I do think some of the teachers are a bit tight a***d, since most of, would have donethe same thing when they were growing up.

I do think a warning would have been a better solution, since it was your first offense. And heck, you know where you went wrong, and I doubt you'll be doing it again. Unlike me who needs a bit of cash every now and then.

I would insert some good moral into this, but then I would be a hypocrite. XD

The funny thing is that I was going to get paid in food and money for letting them cheat. XD
