-Personality-
Boggart: never changing because he's too scared to admit how he feels.
Mirror of Erised: very much a secret. i love big reveals. :3
Patronus: a mouse, because he's shy and quiet.
Temperament/Allegiance: he supports the order, but isn't very outspoken about it.
Likes/Dislikes: he likes drawing, dancing, people who don't forget he's there, animals, and people who care about him. he dislikes his family, parties, older girls, being shy, and crowds.
Strong Points/Weaknesses: he's a good artist, he's graceful, he's dependable, and a complete sweetheart. he's also dreadfully shy, nervous, pessimistic, and freaks out over the slightest things.
Whims/Habits: stuttering, tucking his hair behind his ear, and zoning out.
Detailed Personality : when there's more than one person around harold, he tends to be forgotten as the others talk to each other. he's quiet and sinks into the role of observer unless someone actively makes an effort to talk to him. he fades into the background like a piece of furniture. despite his desire to make more friends, he gets nervous around people and ends up stuttering, babbling, and mostly making no sense. he's an artist, and looks at the world like one. he's always looking around or lost in his thoughts, so he often spaces out. he's easily upset for reasons that only make sense to him, and often flees from everyday situations.
even though he's kind of odd, harold is a genuinely sweet guy. he sometimes loses his temper if he's being teased, but he feels really bad about it later and always apologizes. he would rather be forgotten than have anyone ever cry about him. when he does manage to make a friend, he will be extremely loyal to them. still, he's a somewhat secretive person, and even his friends might never be able to figure him out. he's also very insecure, and sometimes oblivious to others' intentions.
Character's Family : his parents are ministry workers. they're not mean, but not very affectionate. they have a very conservative view of the world and react badly to anyone out of the ordinary. his big sister, caleigh, is your usual not-too-bright skanky, spoiled girl. she's fun around her friends, flirty around guys, and cruel and controlling to her younger brother.

-Character History-
harold grew up knowing that he was different, but he never knew how. of course he knew that he was magical, since his father was as well, but he still felt different from other wizards. he used to behave strangely when he was young, but his parents forced it out of them. they were going to raise their children to be decent witches and wizards, and by "decent," they meant the same as them. he tried to be normal for his parents, but it only pushed him into bitterness, which contradicts his urge to be optimistic.
harold was the younger of the two gonzales siblings, but he was never the baby. his older sister, caleigh, was. their parents turned a blind eye as she bullied him, because, to them, it was his own fault for not being strong enough. if he couldn't take the verbal and sometimes physical pain that his sister inflicted on him, he had to save his crying for after his bedtime, like a man. because of his sister, he remains most nervous around older girls. he's passed through his first three years at hogwarts without bringing any attention to himself or making many friends, but this year might not be so quiet. harold gonzales is reaching his breaking point.

Sample RP: when harold had decided to take mythology this year, he had bought a bunch of muggle and wizard mythology books. of course, with his luck, they would turn out to be misleading or irrelevant and he would be scolded, but they had still been fun to read. reading fairy tales and stories like that made him feel like there were happy endings somewhere, even if there wasn't one for him. only a few of the stories were happy ending types, but he loved the others too, as long as strange and fantastic things happened. what he loved best about myths was that they could seem incredible, even though the world that he lived in was already pretty incredible.
harold was extremely excited to start class, so he showed up early. that was strange for him, because usually he drew right up to the bell, then ran around all flustered. today he had only drawn for a moment, then ran around all flustered, but twice as fast. he shuffled down the hall, walking as quickly as he could without running and getting in trouble. when he arrived in the room, however, he found that he needn't have hurried, because he was early. in his surprise, he messed up in his usual graceful walk, stepped on the hem of his robes, and sprawled to the ground. his books spilled from his arms onto the floor around him. bright red, he scrambled to pick them up before he could bother anyone, and went to his seat. "g-g-good morning, professor," he said, avoiding the teacher's eyes.
harold looked up at the board and realized that he knew the answers, but he wasn't good at putting things into writing. even though he knew that he might get in trouble, he thought that he would do a much better job if he could sketch, so he pulled out a quill and parchment. first, he drew a picture of a hypogriff--part eagle, part horse--looking proud and dignified. next, he drew an abandoned underwater city. after that, he drew creatures with bloodstained caps, standing atop a crumbling building and holding weapons, then a skeletal horse with wings. he labeled each one and added, "you can only see thestrals if you've seen someone die." he tossed his paper into the air and watched as it soared away. because he had had limited time, he had only drawn basic outlines, but he thought that they would work, if the teacher didn't mind his unusual way of answering.
