-Personality-
Boggart: Currently her greatest fear is never getting to reconcile things with Rhys, so when facing a boggart it turns into Rhys's dead body.
Mirror of Erised: Currently her greatest desire is somewhat the opposite of her greatest fear. She sees herself with Rhys, years down the road - she only knows this because they both look older and are holding small children - and things between them are good. She is also Headmistress of Hogwarts in this vision. Unlike Rhys she does not see her father in the mirror.
Patronus: Shih-tzu
Temperament/Allegiance: Once known to have somewhat jealous tendencies and to be often a little quick to accuse, Laurel has worked on her weaknesses so that they are not prominent unless she is extremely angry. Overall she is fairly calm, but as a teacher she will not settle for less than a student's best effort. Being that she was ambitious, she see's their potential and hates to see them waste it. Despite being a Slytherin, which is stereotyped as evil, Laurel allies with good.

Detailed Personality :
Laurel is ambitious, but sometimes doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It can take a while for her to find her next goal at times, to find the next mark to shoot for. She is kind, but is very competitive. She is good at admitting when she is wrong, but not at asking for forgiveness if she has hurt or offended someone. She can be prone to jealousy and quick to judge people our accuse them, but has learned to reign in these tendencies so that they only come out if she is extremely emotional. She is also very cautious in relationships, fearing that people will leave her like her father did. She doesn't like being let down or disappointed by people, and likes even less when people are letting themselves down by not doing their absolutely best and wasting their potential. She is a little bit of a romantic, wanting a family and her own happy ending some day, if she doesn't always believe that she will get this.

-Character History-
Laurel Rose Blair was born to William and Rose Blair on May 20, 2025. Rose was a witch, William was her childhood sweetheart and a muggle. They married and, despite Rose hiding her magic from William, lived happily for many years. Laurel was the oldest of the children in their family, followed four years later by her younger sister, Madeline. Two years later came the first male child, Rhys. It was with his birth that William came to learn about Rose being a witch. Rhys was born a metamorphmagus, and even as a little baby his hair color changed, a strange thing that William was never able to accept.
Roar and Ruby, the twins, were born seven years after five years after Rhys, the year that Laurel was turning eleven. When Laurel got her Hogwarts letter that year she was initially happy, until she saw how her father reacted to it. William had initially assumed that magic was like a recessive gene, and not all the kids would get it. It wasn't until Laurel received her letter from Hogwarts that he began to fully understand that all his kids were, as he put it, freaks. He left Rose and their children after that, and he has never returned or contacted the family since.
All of the children reacted differently to what had happened. Roar and Ruby, who had just been born, would never know their father and thus would always be jealous of the older three siblings. Laurel would blame Rhys and individual abilities for their father leaving, stating that if he hadn't been so unusual that William might have not taken the rest of them having magic so badly. Nine-year-old Madeline would feel resentful and angry at their father, almost hating him. She was the one that defended Rhys and tried to convince Laurel that what their dad had done was his own choice. Six-year-old Rhys would feel abandoned and unloved, wondering what why his father hated him. He would also feel rejected by Laurel, and it would lead to a part of him always hating who he was. Laurel herself would become very cautious about friendships and, down the road, relationships, always fearing that people would leave her or let her down.
Laurel started school at Hogwarts that year, but initially she didn't want to be a witch or to learn about her powers. Teachers had to stop her several times from breaking her wand, a stured, 7" aspen wand with a dragon heartstring core. It only took a week or so for her to gain interest in magic, and after that was when it was proved that the sorting hat had correctly placed the girl in Slytherin. She was very ambitious. Some thought this was the reason she tried to stay at Hogwarts during the holidays too, but the truth was she didn't want to go home and face her younger brother. Initially she was still mad and Rhys and still blamed him for their dad leaving. By the time Madeline had started school though, Laurel was becoming old enough to understand that the actions of their father were not Rhys's fault. She couldn't bring herself to ask for his forgiveness though. And once she had moved the blame for leaving to her father, she didn't want anything to ever do with the man again.
A year or two before Madeline started school, the family moved to a wizarding community, where they could easily live off the fortune that their grandparents had left their mother. This was also to avoid exposing magic, because even by this point, Rhys didn't have a lot of control over his metamorphmagus abilities. Laurel really never considered that house her home, but she also hardly spent any time in it. She spent much of her time at Hogwarts, attempting to avoid Rhys and being involved in various things. She joined dueling club and the Slythering Quidditch team during her time there. She would have joined the choir, but she didn't posses the singing ability of some of her younger siblings.
A few years after the move it was Rhys's turn to start schooling at Hogwarts, and Laurel lost her ability to escape him by spending time at school. However, they were only at Hogwarts together for a year before she graduated. After she graduated she spent several years traveling and learning more about the magical world. Despite her great ambition, she had never set her eyes on a goal, and until recently did not know what she wanted to do with her life. When she was offered a job as a Professor at Hogwarts, she knew that she wanted to take it. Teaching just fit, and it became her dream. Her ultimate dream would be to become Headmistress, but even if that didn't happen she would be able to influence a whole new generation of magic users.
The one issue that came with moving to Hogwarts was her brother, Rhys, was still a 7th year there. Laurel made an attempt over the summer to patch things up with him, but it was unsuccessful as Rhys would not forgive her for the years when she had blamed him for their father leaving. Still, Madeline has remained in contact with both her older sister and younger brother, and has told Laurel to keep working on Rhys, that things would work out. Were it not for Madeline's talents in divination, which she was good at despite not being a seer, Laurel wouldn't believe her sister. She is currently choosing to hope that Madeline can see something she can't though.
