Adonia knew that it was time to get some homework done. Since she was now appointed Head Girl, there was some more responsibilites when she was just a Prefect for her House. She had decided to drop the study groups since there was hardly any kids that would show up for them. Grabbing her books from beside her bed, Adonia started to walk out of the Ravenclaw Common Room with a dark blue t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans with black sneakers. It was now summer and it was starting to get a little warm. Good thing that the castle was set at a good temperature. If Adonia was going outside, then she would need to throw on some shorts cause it would be hot. But for some reason, it was windy, the air was still warm though.

Making her way to the library, Adonia stopped and looked at some kids that were playing Wizards Chess. Sure, she was smart, but she never really knew how to play chess. It sure did look interesting and the kids who were playing looked like they were in some serious concentration. One was a boy, who was a Hufflepuff and the other one was a girl from Gryffindor. From the look on the girl’s face, it looked like she was winning. Adonia smiled and went on her way.

Opening the door to the library, Adonia walked in, with her books still in her hand. Heading to her usual table in the middle, Adonia laid down her books and opened them. What she was working on was History of Magic… the subject that she had hated the most. It was just so stupid. Adonia didn’t know why she hated the class so much, maybe it was because she couldn’t remember the numbers of certain dates… but she could remember the plants of Herbology when they were discovered and such… but not that class. Sighing, she began to write her paper on the Salem Witch Trials.

Mikayla dragged the bag of books she had behind her has she walked towards the library. She really didn’t feel like carrying them, as they were heavy and stupid because they were for History of Magic. Why she was still taking this class was a mystery to her, it was just something she had to do. It was a relief, however, that they were learning about the Salem Witch Trials, as that was something she knew a lot about. Not only was she from America, she actually went to school at the Salem Witches Institute for a couple of years in the place where they actually took place.

She sighed, wishing Kite was with her to make her studying a bit more pleasant, but she figured if she studied with Kite, they would never get any work done. He was in class though, and there was nothing Mikayla could do to get him out of it. Opening the door to the library, she searched for a table that was somewhere far enough away from people that she could study in peace but close enough that if she saw someone, she could still talk to them.

Then she saw her, Adonia Theodoisa. It had been ages since the two of them had talked, and she wasn’t sure if she had even liked Mikayla when they had talked. Mikayla was kinda terrible back in the day, and Adonia had known her at her worst. She decided to give talking to her a try, and Adonia could make the decision if she wanted to talk to her or not. [green] Hey Adonia. Its been a long time. How’ve you been? [/green] Mikayla asked with a smile.

The heading of Adonia’s paper started with “The Salem Witch Trails”… and that was it. She didn’t know how to start it off. But she also remembered what the professor was talking about. It was about the initial events that had happened and Adonia thought that she could write about that.

In Salem Village in 1692, Betty Parris, age 9, and her cousin Abigail Williams, age 11, the daughter and niece (respectively) of the Reverend Samuel Parris, began to have fits described as "beyond the power of Epileptic Fits or natural disease to effect" by John Hale, minister in nearby Beverly.[26] The girls screamed, threw things about the room, uttered strange sounds, crawled under furniture, and contorted themselves into peculiar positions, according to the eyewitness account of Rev. Deodat Lawson, a former minister in the town. The girls complained of being pinched and pricked with pins. A doctor, historically assumed to be William Griggs, could find no physical evidence of any ailment. Other young women in the village began to exhibit similar behaviors. When Lawson preached in the Salem Village meetinghouse, he was interrupted several times by outbursts of the afflicted.[27]
The first three people accused and arrested for allegedly afflicting Betty Parris, Abigail Williams, 12-year-old Ann Putnam, Jr., and Elizabeth Hubbard were Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne and Tituba. The accusation of Ann Putnam Jr. is seen by historians as evidence that a family feud may have been a major cause of the Witch Trials. Salem was the home of a vicious rivalry between the Putnam and Porter families. The people of Salem were all engaged in this rivalry. Salem citizens would often engage in heated debates that would escalate into full fledged fighting, based solely on their opinion regarding this feud.[28]
Sarah Good was a homeless beggar and known to beg for food and shelter from neighbors. She was accused of witchcraft because of her appalling reputation. At her trial, Good was accused of rejecting the puritanical expectations of self-control and discipline when she chose to torment and “scorn [children] instead of leading them towards the path of salvation" [29]
Sarah Osborne rarely attended church meetings. She was accused of witchcraft because the puritans believed that Osborne had her own self-interests in mind for she had remarried (to an indentured servant). The citizens of the town of Salem also found it distasteful when she attempted to control her son's inheritance from her previous marriage.
Tituba, as a slave of a different ethnicity than the Puritans, was a target for accusations. She was accused of attracting young girls like Abigail Williams and Betty Parris with enchanting stories from Malleus Maleficarum. These tales about sexual encounters with demons, swaying the minds of men, and fortune telling stimulated the imaginations of young girls and made Tituba an obvious target of accusations.[30]
All of these outcast women fit the description of the "usual suspects" for witchcraft accusations, and no one stood up for them. These women were brought before the local magistrates on the complaint of witchcraft and interrogated for several days, starting on March 1, 1692, then sent to jail.[31] Other accusations followed in March: Martha Corey, Dorothy Good and Rebecca Nurse in Salem Village, and Rachel Clinton in nearby Ipswich. Martha Corey had voiced skepticism about the credibility of the girls' accusations, drawing attention to herself. The charges against her and Rebecca Nurse deeply troubled the community because Martha Corey was a full covenanted member of the Church in Salem Village, as was Rebecca Nurse in the Church in Salem Town. If such upstanding people could be witches, then anybody could be a witch, and church membership was no protection from accusation. Dorothy Good, the daughter of Sarah Good, was only 4 years old, and when questioned by the magistrates her answers were construed as a confession, implicating her mother. In Ipswich, Rachel Clinton was arrested for witchcraft at the end of March[32] on charges unrelated to the afflictions of the girls in Salem Village.

After reading about those events, Adonia grabbed her quill, dunked it into some ink and was about to write when there was a girl who said her name. Looking up, it was Mikayla Menki. Adonia had not seen her for a while also… technically, she hadn’t seen anyone in a while… but Mikayla asked its been a long time and how she had been. Nodding her head, Adonia set down her quill and smiled to the girl, [black]”Everything has been ok. Just working on History of Magic work right now… hate this class.”[/black] She said with a small laugh.

When Adonia knew Mikayla, she was one of the girls who were mean and also someone who was very social. Not like the social casual talk, it was the spreading rumor kind of thing. But many people could have changed since then. Like Adonia, she was more mature now more than ever and more cautious too. Matthew had changed a lot also. He was now more mature, not so much cocky too.

[black]”Please, sit down.”[/black] Adonia said as she kicked out a chair for Mikayla. It would be nice to talk to someone rather than writing the stupid paper for HOM paper. [black]”So, how has everything been for you? I hope well.”[/black] Adonia asked with a smile on her face.

Mikayla smiled when Adonia asked her to sit with her. [green] Who doesn’t hate that class? [/green] She giggled. She was glad Adonia had actually wanted to talk to her. Mikayla was worried that she might have done something to offend her in the past like she had done with so many other people. She had been trying to apologize to everyone that she was mean to, before she finished here at Hogwarts. It was slow goings as she didn’t have time to go to each person individually (it was a lot of people), but at least she was trying.

[green] I’ve been really great actually. Probably way different than you remember me actually. [/green] Adonia had been gone for quite some time and many people had thought she died. Mikayla never jumped to that conclusion though, she wasn’t sure why, but she knew she wasn’t dead. [green] I’m actually really happy now for a change; Finally got myself a boyfriend…Kite Skeron…you know him? [/green] Adonia had probably heard about her and Kite as it was all over the school when it happened. People were just talking because it wasn’t like Mikayla to settle down with anyone, let alone a muggleborn Gryffindor.

[green] What about you? How have you been? [/green] She asked politely as she didn’t want all of the conversation to be about her.

Laughing a little, Mikayla was right, who did like that class. [black]”I don’t think many people do. They should take it out, but we would never learn from our past to make sure it doesn’t happen in the future.”[/black] Which was true, otherwise, they would probably be in a predicament like the Salem Witch Trials again and Adonia knew she was too young to die.

Hearing Mikayla talking, it sounded like she was really happy and also it did seem that she had changed because the old Mikayla wouldn’t really come up to Adonia and say hello and start a conversation. If she did want a conversation, then Mikayla would probably asking tons of questions, trying to get some gossip she could spread around. But nope, she was really sincere in her talking and she seemed, again, happy.

Smiling, Adonia looked to her and gave her a nod, [black]”Well, that is wonderful to hear. I happen to know Kite. We hung out one day at Hogsmeade, but it was only for a little bit. Nothing too long. He seems really nice and I am happy for you. I wish you both happiness.”[/black] and it was the truth. To have a great relationship, you need happiness and it seemed from Mikayla’s reaction, there was a lot there, but there is always room for more even if its overflowing.

Asking how Adonia was, she nodded her head and all she said was, [black]”I am doing well, thanks.”[/black] She didn’t really want to talk about it cause deep inside, she wasn’t doing well. Everything that had happened was still eating at Adonia. She was still going to St. Mungos for checkups and also picking up more antidepressant potions. She didn’t want anyone to know, but the only person she told was Kayla because they were best friends and also really close.

[black]”So what are you doing here? Homework also?”[/black] Adonia said as she nodded her head towards the books she had in her bag. Hopefully she had HOM in there, maybe they could work on it together.
