Vernon Dursley was born in London England, to the Dursley family. His parents were Robert Dursley, an esteemed College Professor in the muggle world, and Jannette Dursley, an accountant. Vernon has but just one sister, Rebecca Dursley, who was born a muggle and remains with her parents to this day. Vernon felt different from a young age, when he was in kindergarten hsi teachers accused him of playing numerous pranks on the other children. Things such as throwing paint on other kids, but due to his shy and calm nature they later dismissed him from those.
Vernon was very into the arts since he was about five, singing as much as he could as well as making plays with his baby sister. As the years passed however, he felt a bit more estranged, noticing small things that others didnt. At the age of nine, in a reunion with his grandfather he had a fight with his father. When his grandfather, Dudley, went up to his room to talk to him he noticed the child crying in the bed and books floating in the air. Dudley there realized why his grandson seemed so different. He sat next to his grandson and calmed him, knowing very well what he had just experienced. Some days after, Dudley spoke to Robert and told him that his Cousin Harry would come to visit in a day or so and that he would speak to Vernon.
The day came where Vernon met Harry Potter and they spoke. Harry introduced him to what he was and helped him calm down and not be scared. Harry also spoke to Robert and explained that Vernon had a gift, and that he should be allowed to explore it. They sat together and arranged so that at the end of the normal school year, Vernon would move in with Harry and Lilly, and begin his experience in the wizarding world.
While living with the Potters, he learned a lot of tricks and became very good friends with his cousins. While most of them had gone to hogwarts and were students there currently, he still managed to meet them and spend a summer with them while they were at home. During the school year, however, Vernon was left with his adoptive grandparents to learn basic wizardry terms as well as spells. He had much trouble learning this new, and to him, odd lifestyle. He even felt like giving up and not going to hogwarts.
It was in this time of indecision that Harry introduced him to Hermione Granger. When Vernon learned that she too, was 'muggle-born', he grew very happy. New hope awoke in the child, and she helped him learn a few basic spells. Vernon felt in good hands, he truly trusted her and so his trust in his new family grew even more.
While he grew very close to Hermione, he grew the closest to Lilly Potter, his new aunt. She was very delightful to the young kid, and was always at home helping her parents out and saving the kid from dealing with the 'old folk' as she said. Vernon felt like if she was the closest thing to a mother in that place, and it was because she reminded him very much of his own mother Jannette.
