The words in the book blurred and with great force of effort the petite girl sitting on the thick windowsill, blinked her eyes. She was probably expending more energy trying to break out of a state of paralyzing drowsiness. She read a few sentences but her head dropped again. After fighting a few more times, her wavy unkempt hair fell against the cool window pane and Zoë drifted off into her imagination. She for one, thought that it was a much more delightful place then her potions book.
It was very unusual for the 14 year old hufflepuff to nap, perhaps once a year at the most. Entering school had increased the frequency of this formerly freak experience. Usually Zoë just kept going, much to a similar effect as the energizer bunny. Curiosity drove her forward, or maybe it was really just Attention Deficit Disorder, but whatever you'd like to blame it on, she loved to explore. Before school napping had a similar probability as being struck by lightning. She had heard that some people had lightning burn patterns that etched into their skin after being struck. Oddly she had wondered what it felt like- if it was like a car being jumped, or being rewired, did it feel energetic?
As a kid, not that very much time had passed since then, so maybe before she was ten, Zoë could not remember a single dream that she had ever had. But ever since it was as if she was living on a different plane. Today she had been so jubilantly content that it seemed as if her soul would leap out of her body and dance across the sky. Apparently her happiness continued into the realm of dreams, which had she been aware of this congruence, would have renewed her faith in way life works. She felt energetic, a movement of her soul. And suddenly she saw where she was. Directly below her was the milky way. It seemed closer than normal and particularly vivid. For some reason her brain had decided that it wasn't odd that she was above the stars while another part of her reminded herself to take advantage of the extraordinary perspective. And then she was floating down towards earth, apart of a warm breeze, the sort of breeze that has a greater velocity than the strongest tornado or hurricane. She was magnetized and then as she entered the earth's atmosphere she combined with the oxygen and nitrogen and for 3 seconds, while changing their chemical charge emitted a deep red. She jumped from particle to particle to particle, falling through the radiating dance. As she grew closer to earth she changed to green and sometimes blue. Her spirit was smiling more than it ever had and her eyes felt like they were shinning brighter than all of the stars in the universe combined. She was dancing in the Northern Lights.
She was about to fall too far, too close to the earth, and out of the dance which had mesmerized her for as long as she could remember. Suddenly she awoke bumping her head against the window. She let out a low "ouch" and kind off fell from her nook as she realized where she was. Then she saw the boy.
There was a boy. Why did there always have to be someone around when she did something stupid? Most of the time when she was perfectly graceful there was no one was around to notice. Of course. Nonetheless, she couldn't wipe a gleeful smile from her face thinking that she had just danced the most breathtaking dance of her life. "hi" she mumbled towards the boy. His name was.... well she couldn't remember, but she knew that he was in the same house she was. Entirely without the permission of the socially aware part of her brain, she blurted out ecstatically, "I think I just had the most wonderful dream of my life. It was perfectly amazing!". Whenever Zoë got really excited a hint of her former American accent would peek through its English mask.
((So I'm just getting back into rping, in fact I haven't written in any creative form for a few years, so I'm sorry if my post lengths, style, and such vary a little))
