((Disclaimer: Mikayla is a big one for jumping to conclusions. She has no idea about anything, but she is going to think the worst. Just an fyi.))
Mikayla left the room sullen and downtrodden. She felt like her heart had dropped down into her stomach, which is one of the more terrible feelings one can experience. She had just found out two major pieces of information that had basically mind fucked her. The first was the Kite had attacked Matthew and all the damage Kite had suffered was from Matthew defending himself. She didn’t know what to think of that. Why would Kite do that to himself? Did he even love her anymore? This thought brought her to her next realization. If Kite’s hippogriff attack hadn’t happened, Kite would have been with Kayla. Kayla of all people. Kayla Sommers, Mikayla’s arch rival and worst enemy; the reason why she had spent so many sleepless nights crying over a guy last term that she had no chance with in the first place.
Mikayla made it to her office and sat down in one of the big fluffy chairs near the corner. She wondered how Kite felt about Kayla and how Kayla felt about him. She wondered whether there was even any reason for Kite to be with her now that he remembered what he felt for Kayla. Tears fell down her cheeks onto the pillow she was clutching for dear life. All these thoughts rushed through her head. What had happened that day before the attack? Had they kissed? Did he touch her the way he touched Mikayla that made her feel so warm and happy inside?
She was going crazy inside her own mind. She should have never let her guard down with Kite, she thought. That was how she got hurt the last time. Mikayla curled up into a ball in her fluffy chair, conjured a big warm blanket and started a fire in the fireplace. She lay there crying and dozing off, waking up and crying some more for a good couple of hours, until a knock on the door snapped her out of her stupor. She sat up quickly, smoothed her hair down, which she was sure was a mess, and wiped any make up that had leaked off of her eyes away. She glanced in the mirror and found herself to be somewhat presentable, before going off to answer the door.
