Post by Shin-Ii Kim on Aug 21, 2011 7:48:34 GMT -6
-General-
Full Name:Kim, Shin-Ii
Gender: Male
Age, Birthplace & Date: 16, Seoul; S.Korea on the 5th of September.
Bloodline: Muggleborn.
-Appearance-
Hair:
Traditionally Shin-ii’s hair is a brittle looking black. Due to its thickness is not uncommon for people to see him style it in outrageous ways which even girls would seem to envy; (see visual kei). His hair is thick and easily styled with water or a light amount of hairspray, though usually every morning he just brushes his hair down with his fingers and runs down the stairwell.
Eyes:
Shin’s eyes are a dark brown, so dark at times that it can be hard to tell if they have any shade of colour, even when he wears contacts (which he wears rarely). Closer you would notice that the brown fades around the edges of his iris into a dark shade of amber-brown.
Body Type:
He is moderately built with no visible excess fat or muscle. He is lightly toned naturally due to his body shape but lacks the model appearance. He stands a half a head bellow most of the other students his age at 5’7.
Unique Features:
Shin’s most unique feature, the thing that stands out the most would be his lips. They are soft and pink even for a boy and he has often been labelled as ‘more pretty than a girl’ when he returns to visit his family in Seoul.
Animagus: N/A
More Detailed Physical Description:
Shin-ii has what people would name a ‘baby face’ His soft feminine features confuse those even of the same gender to him. His pink plump lips are a dream that some have admitted to wanting to kiss. His skin takes on a pale white-yellow, frail and slightly sickish looking if placed next to a snowy hillside. His cheeks are easily flushed when he is embarrassed but his temperament makes that rarely so. He is easily frightened but hardly embarrassed unless it comes down to a girl or an intimate situation which he would not be able to understand, He has a surprisingly cute side that even when reading will blush during the mature scenes in the text.

-Personality-
Quiet, reserved, lonely and displaced. Is very shy ad secretly hopeful.
Boggart: Darkness. Dark which engulfs even magical light.
Mirror of Erised: Surrounded by friends who truly understand him.
Patronus: A cat. A solitary and affectionate animal to match his personality.
Temperament/Allegiance: Neutral.
Likes/Dislikes: Shin-ii has a soft spot (secretly) for anything tiny and cute such as ducklings, kittens, birds and other small animals, He enjoys a summers day and very much so a quiet place to sit down and read a novel by one of many of his favourite authors.
Strong Points/Weaknesses:
He is an avid reader of fiction novels and can usually finish a book within the day if passionate about the topic.
Shin has a hard time concentrating in class, he strives even more so for a more of an exciting life, be it adventuring in a faraway land (not London, he claims it is too grey) like in his fiction books; he wishes he was more outgoing and adventurous like the characters who paint the pages and finds much of the class textbook content mundane and boring, thus his grades are never as high as people would expect.
Whims/Habits:
Ironically, Shin has a bad habit of messing up his own hair and forgetting how he had even did so in the first place, he tilts his head slightly to the left when he doesn’t understand or grasp a situation and always fidgets with his glasses when he is not wearing them.
Detailed Personality:
Shin-Ii is a very quiet person; he finds companionships in fiction novels and the soft sound of a musical piece playing in the background. But despite his solitary nature, it is not one he desires to have. He yearns to make friends his age and get along with people more easily but his shyness and lack of conversational skills always fail him.
While Shin-ii is well read due to his love of novels his is still very shy when it comes things to personal relationships and tends to be a traditionalist when it comes to romance. Anything from opening the door for a lady, bowing politely and taking things slowly are a must for him, even holding hands is too embarrassing for Shin-Ii.

-Character History-
Shin-ii was born on a colder than normal day. He was rather a surprising outcome for both his parents as they were both told earlier that it would be hard for his mother to conceive. So naturally, the congratulation gifts were many, and the money received would be put into a savings account for their sons future.
Shin grew up in a normal neighbourhood in muggle terms; his parents were not rich but could not be classified as poor either. They made an average salary for their position and his father was known as aa hard worker. He was provided with enough love and affection as any child would have been if they were the families’ only son. His father would always tell him to harden up, yet his mother would treat him like a jewel and show him off to her girlfriends and would joke about setting him up with one of their daughters when they were older. Everything was fine.
Then Shin-ii grew up, and had an incident where his friend fell from a building but did not die, on the contrary he levitated back up from the ground before hitting it and landed right back inside the windowsill on which he was sitting. People all around were appalled and despite living in Korea. Korea’s education system was fantastic but the magic institute there was very limited in skill so despite how many his parents hated it, they asked the magic community where they resided what they thought would be best for their son. His parents, afraid of public ridicule told his neighbours, extended family and even their work friends that shin was sent to a theater school in England due to his charming looks and singing voice.
It wasn’t unlikely that his parents were trying for another child at this time so they could have a normal family, but Shin-ii pretended not to notice the less warm than usual looks and words exchanged between them.
It took most of Shin-ii’s college savings which his parents had put aside for him to send him to London after they had sent him to three months’ worth of English classes on top of his mandatory classes in school. It was a hassle but the work was fairly straightforward. At times he made grammatical errors as all children did who did not understand English and was supplied with a range of English help books and phrase books to memorize before the starting semester. It was common knowledge that in Korea, the better education you had, the more likely you were able to have a life time work contract, his parents naturally assumed the same for the magical world also. It was the months of serious study which made him feel that studying was a hassle.
So, his parents requested a exchange to the faraway school. Hoping for the best for their sons future even if halfheartedly, They ordered his books from overseas once notice had been sent and set them up for him to pick up at their family friends house.
Even when he had reached Hogwarts he was singled out and ignored a lot, his quiet nature and unwillingness to step forward was the cause of most of his problems. He figured they would be fixed over time but there has been no progress over 4 years. He promised himself he would fix things, and make an effort to stand out as his neutral stance on life and his future are causing him too much hassle.

The soft drone of music playing from the person’s earphones beside him on the train was irritating him immensely as he was cramped against the railing headed to his parents place. It had already taken over 16 hours to fly from London to Seoul on the quickest direct route available and his parents weren’t able to pick him up from the airport, leaving him to ride the death trap the muggles would call ‘trains’. This was all becoming to inconvenient for him to handle, he had been living in a world of teleportation, magic and broomsticks for over 9 months now and had returned from his first year of Hogwarts for the long break; he already eagerly awaited the next year with open arms.
Regardless, he had still made no friends and was socially outcast fairly quickly. He blamed himself more so than others as it was not their fault that they did not approach him, Shin knew he was very unsociable and looked very unapproachable, especially when reading.
While the stops grew nearer to his, the amount of people had lessened, but it was too late as his hate for public transportation had risen immensely. It would still be another three stops until his. He closed the book he was attempting to read and stared out the changing scenery. It was odd seeing the fields change into small towns and then back into a metropolis of a city. “Home sweet home...eh” although, he still did not feel home in his own country. The lowliness which pained him every day was one he had to fix himself, but it was a little hard as he was too shy to make the first move, also his pride would interfere.
The stop he had to get off at was still another 10 minute walk away from his mouse, why weren’t his parents interested din letting him use floo powder? Or In anything to do with his magic, he was shunned by his mother and she kept it secret from her sisters and her brothers. His grandparents were not even aware of his magical abilities. No one but his two parents were against the whole idea.
“I’m home...” he called into an empty doorway as he removed his shoes and headed up the stairs to his cold room.
