Hey interview person! *hugs* My name is Shaylyn Sapphire Menki but you can just call me Shay. Yes yes, I’m sure you have heard my last name before, probably attached to my cousin Mikayla’s name but we’ll get into all that later. My name, Shaylyn means “from the fairy palace” which I think is really pretty if you think about it. Sapphire means, well you know what a sapphire is, that pretty blue gem. I am pure blood like any other respectable part of the Menki family, just in case you needed to know that. My birthday is September 18th and I turned 17 this year, meaning I’ll be in my 7th year at the start of this term. *giggles*

I’m in the house of Ravenclaw. Yeah most people in my family have been in Slytherin, but what can you do, right? I guess I’m smarter than the rest of them as the hat decided to put me in Ravenclaw, just because I’m that awesome. My wand? Well its your standard average everyday wand. Willow and Dragon Heartstring, 13 ¼ inches. Rather long, yes, but it’s good for many things.

My sexuality is straight, although sometimes I have wondered what it would be like to be with a girl. Guys cause too much drama sometimes…but then again so do girls…hmmph. I don’t know then. I had to leave my beau behind in Brazil when we left, but then again, I think he was getting frustrated that our relationship wasn’t going anywhere, physically, in his opinion…I was content. *sighs* I am looking for someone to keep me company now though….the position is open to anyone who might be interested…?

I would say my personality is bubbly? If that is an adjective that can be used to describe personality. I am very social just like my cousin, but not in the way she is. I love to make friends and flirt with boys, but I am still a virgin thank you very much and I plan for it to stay that way for awhile. I tend to twirl my hair on my finger when I am thinking really hard about something and oddly enough I like to hang upside-down when I can’t seem to remember something; it helps me think. I love girly stuff like shopping, getting manicures, that whole shebang. I like to paint my nails various colors and they are usually a different color that reflects my mood every day, or even every few hours. I am afraid of falling, spiders, or bugs of any kind for that matter, I am afraid of fish for some weird reason and I hate above anything, deep water. I don’t like deep pools, lakes, oceans, any body of water deep enough that my feet can’t touch the ground so don’t expect me to go swimming with you in the lake anytime soon. I like rock music even though I don’t look like the type who would. Anything with growly screaming mixed in, makes my heart melt. <3

I am not your typical “I come from a well known pure blood wizarding family so therefore I’m better than you” type of person. I am friends with everyone and I care nothing about blood status. My best friend back in Brazil is just a muggle and the last few guys I’ve dated have been muggle born of half blood. None of that crud matters to me. I feel some people get so consumed with blood purity and the like that they miss out on the opportunity to meet someone truly wonderful. Take my cousin Mikayla over there, she used to be completely obsessed with blood status that she wouldn’t even talk to anyone who wasn’t pureblood. Once she opened herself up to the idea that theres nothing different about them, and we’re all just people, she meets the love of her life, who happens to be muggle born. I haven’t met the kid yet, but I hear he’s nice.

Interestingly enough, I have lived my whole life in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, even though my parents aren’t originally from there. It has just been me, Shaylyn, my older brother Ezra Emerald (22), and my father Izaiah (42) since the day I was born. My mother, Mai died in child birth at the tender age of 25. They had my brother at quite young ages, younger than I want to be when I have kids someday, but they waited a few years before they tried again and got me. I don’t really know much about my mom’s family as once I was old enough to leave the hospital my father up and moved us away from Spain (apparently where I was born) to Brazil and we don’t keep in contact with that side of the family anymore. My dad’s side of the family is pretty well known and he has a brother Carlyle that lives in America. His daughter is Mikayla which makes the two of us first cousins. I am a year younger than her and as far as I know, she just finished here at Hogwarts this term. We used to be pretty close a youngsters, we’d write letters to each other and see each other at family gatherings. Nowadays, we write each other whenever we get around to it, which isn’t very often, but enough to still keep in contact. Enough about family, let’s talk about me. I used to go to the Brazilian Wizarding School up until this year. I’m not quite sure about the reason why my father wanted us to relocate so quickly yet again, but he decided that now it was time for us to live in England. Something tells me he may be running from the law, but that’s just me jumping to conclusions, I’m good at that.
