History:Luna was born in the town of Little Whinging. The situation of her birth was rather unique. A young magical couple by the name of Cedric and Holly Bale wanted to have at least one child but Cedric was incapable of having children. With no other options and at the point of desperation, Holly went to a sperm bank and was injected with the DNA of a random wizard. Nine months later Luna was born. She had her father’s eyes and hair.
The town was filled with a mix of muggles, witches, and wizards. Cedric and Holly were magical though they tried to keep it secret. Not knowing she was special Luna grew up oblivious to the wizarding world. Luna made a lot of friends, some of whom were either wizards or witches though they didn’t know it yet. Luna spent five years going to muggle schools, from kindergarten to fourth grade, and thinking she was a normal person. One day when she was nine a letter came from the bank where Holly had been injected. The letter told details about who her child’s father really was. Holly had been so desperate at the time she never took the time to even think about it. Seeing the name on the paper seemed to drain Holly’s face of all color. Her husband shared her reaction. Holly and Cedric didn’t know what to do so they started doing some research but found nothing. Not knowing what else to do they sent a letter to the Ministry of Magic asking for advice. The Ministry was able to dig up some records and found that Sirius Black had been Harry Potter’s godfather and he might be willing to take in his child. After a few weeks of sending letters and getting everything set up, Harry Potter arrived and picked up Luna. She didn’t understand what was going on, but Harry promised to explain everything.
When she arrived at the Potter’s home Luna was very nervous and confused. Harry fulfilled his promise and told Luna everything. She was sad for a while but then cheered up and decided to learn everything she could about her father. Luna asked everybody about Sirius and after listening to everyone Luna started to deeply respect and admire the father she never knew.
Luna started learning about the wizarding world. She was fascinated by the things witches and wizards could do, she was also surprised at how big her new family was. Luna was happy that her new family was so nice. Luna was shy at first, trying to speak as little as possible and only to the girls. As time passed though she became more accustomed to the family and started opening up.
Luna had fun growing up with the Potters and the Weasleys. It was such a huge family and there was always someone Luna could talk to. The Potters treated Luna as if she was one of their own which made her very happy. It was like she had real siblings and real parents. The magic took a bit of getting used to but she managed.
Two years passed and it was time for her to enroll in Hogwarts. Like the rest of her family Luna went to Diagon ally to get her supplies. Her first stop was the wand shop where she got her first wand. It was a wand with two cores: a phoenix feather and a chimera scale fragment. The wood was made from the rare Elder tree, making it a troublesome wand. It was rigid as well making it very powerful yet hard to control.
After getting everything she needed Luna heard the flapping of wings and looked behind her. A large owl landed on her shoulder. It was a barn owl. Harry had bought it for her as a present. She knew it didn’t have a name so she named it Sirius, after her father. After getting the necessary things for taking care of an owl Luna got on the Hogwarts express and headed off to her new life with a small smile on her face.
