History: Shaylyn Sapphire Menki was born in Barcelona, Spain to Izaiah and Mai Menki. Her mother’s pregnancy was riddled with complications and by the time she was just about due, her mother was practically living in the hospital. Due to unforeseen circumstances, her parents had to make a choice, whether to save Mai or their unborn daughter to which Mai replied “I’ve lived my life. Let her live hers.” Shortly thereafter, Shaylyn was born. The day she was allowed to leave the hospital, her father moved her and her older brother Ezra out of Spain to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where they had lived until Shay was 17.
Shay lived a relatively happy life in Brazil, just her father, brother and herself. When her brother Ezra turned 11, he got accepted into the Brazilian School of Wizardry and their father decided it was time to start tutoring Shay in the ways of magic (she was 6 at this time). Early on it became evident that she was more skilled in healing magic than she should be at such a young age. Her father taught her simple spells like Episkey and Tergeo and she mastered those easily. Healing spells came more naturally to her than any other type of spells and charms and her father could not be more proud of her.
When she was 11, she got her acceptance to the Brazilian School of Wizardry where she did relatively well in most of her classes. She did however find out that she has a terrible memory making classes like History where you have to remember various dates and names very difficult for her. She did excel at Charms and Potions and was taking all the right classes to become a healer when she finished school.
Skip ahead a few years and Shaylyn had just finished her 6th year. Her father one day decided that they were moving to England. He gave them no reason, just that they had to go, now. They packed up their things and moved in the night to their new place. Shay was already of age so she really didn’t have to go, but she didn’t want to split up what little family they had left. (Her brother was still saying with them for no apparent reason.) She never questioned her father’s reason for them moving, but in the back of her mind she assumed they were running from some type of law enforcement. She transferred to Hogwarts and thought everything was going alright and that everything was going to go back to normal.
Just weeks after their move however, her father was arrested and sent to Azkaban for conspiracy to take over the Brazilian Ministry of Magic. She and her brother were shocked at this news as neither of them noticed anything suspicious going on in her father’s life. Shay would have up and left Hogwarts and everything that reminded her of this horrible time, if it weren’t for Tony Dedrian. She met him one night while she was out walking when she found him dying in the streets of London from a Chimera attack. She healed his wounds and the two fell in love shortly after. But of course, all good things must come to an end, and he disappeared soon after that. Shaylyn was heartbroken, falling into a deep depression from the moment she found out. Not eating, hardly sleeping due to intense nightmares, and failing several, if not all of her classes. Friends and family worried about her but there was nothing they could do to help her. She contemplated leaving Hogwarts and leaving everything behind and starting over. A few months passed and low and behold, he reappeared, after being kidnapped by dark wizards. They resumed their relationship right where they left off, with him now being Head of the Auror Department, and her still in her 7th year at Hogwarts.
Personality: Shaylyn is basically the incarnate of innocence. She tries to see the good in anyone, even if there is none, she is nice to everyone and can make friends easily, she has never done anything most normal teenagers do (drink, smoke, do drugs, have sex, etc.), and she loves to be childish at any opportunity. The downside to her personality is that she is way too trusting because she doesn’t believe anyone is as bad as people say. She doesn’t always understand when people are trying to trick her or do her harm so basically her common sense is blocked by her complete innocence a lot of the time. She doesn’t see the point in acting older than she is and is trying to cling to her childhood as long as she can. This childlike element in her is a reason why people might see her as strange because she can often be seen running around in the grass, jumping in puddles when it rains, climbing in trees and hanging from them, and other activities most teenagers wouldn’t be caught dead doing. For someone who is such a little kid at heart, she absolutely loves to be girly. She loves to shop for and wear pretty clothes, get her hair and nails done, all that good stuff. The only problem with that is she is severely indecisive. She can never make up her mind about anything and when she does, she had probably spent forever weighting the pros and cons of each option. This not only applies to clothes and shoes but to all decisions that she has to make in her daily life, which can get very annoying.
Appearance: Shaylyn isn’t the tallest person ever at only 5 foot 5 inches tall but the fact that she is short just makes her more cute and adorable. She is skinny, but not like gross skinny, and being a late bloomer, she is finally starting to blossom into her womanly curves. Originally being from Brazil, of course she is tan, but she’s not overly so, and it matches well with the rest of her features. She has bright green eyes with flex of brown around the pupil, some people call that hazel, but she still says their green. Her hair is almost never shorter than her lower back and she never dyes it because she loves her natural chocolate brown hair color.
Clothing: She loves to dress up in pretty, girly clothes like skirts, dresses, heels and all that good stuff a lot of the time. However, when she is just relaxing or hanging out with friends, she can usually be found in jeans, band t-shirts, and converse.
